A bluesy rocker about hoes... I mean.. gardening ;D
https://soundcloud.com/caliamoko/too-hot-to-move/s-z9MFG (https://soundcloud.com/caliamoko/too-hot-to-move/s-z9MFG)
It's too hot to move
But I gotta go out and pull the weeds, oh mama!
It's too hot to move
But I gotta go out and pull the weeds, oh yeah!
I gotta hoe, hoe, hoe, hoe, hoe the potatoes
Hoe, hoe, hoe, hoe, hoe the tomatoes
Water, water, water, water, water, watermelons
Water, water, water, water, water, water lettuce
It's too hot to move
But I gotta go out and pull the weeds, oh yeah!
It's too hot to move
But I gotta go out and pull the weeds, oh mercy!
I gotta hoe, hoe, hoe, hoe, hoe the potatoes
Hoe, hoe, hoe, hoe, hoe the tomatoes
I gotta hoe, hoe, hoe, hoe, hoe the potatoes
Hoe, hoe, hoe, hoe, hoe the tomatoes.......

A catchy little number. I listened earlier before I had my dinner and found myself humming it as I was clearing up - gotta be a good sign, eh?
Of course in this case tomayto-tomahto does really matter, from a rhyming perspective ;D ;D
An enjoyable clever song. Kudos!

Yo Vicki.
Love the Jean Genie/Paranoid guitar riff. 8) Not at all what I was expecting!
Snappy, rocky and with your trademark humour in fine form,it's a killer combination.
Rock on sister. 8)

@MonnoDB (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19820) and @Skub (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20061)
Thanks for the lovely comments. The guitar is wholly 100% all Jeff (Jzr171). In fact, the entire accompaniment is something he put together. He sent me the finished track, which inspired me to come up with the gardening action.

Hi love it never realised that vegetables could be so interesting- a real fun number - but has all the aspects needed to be a hit 😃
Love it xx

When reading was a bit worried about the lettuce but it sounded perfect in the finished product. Water-water-water- melons is brilliant.
Loved it!

Pleasantly got me out of my vegetative state this morning!
Really nice little listen, that I can hear folk whistling on the allotment.
-
Glad our song is going over well ;D
@Skub (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20061)
There is definitely a Sabbath influence in this. I'm not to familiar with Jean Genie, but listening now I hear it. But hey that's my era of influence. Anything late 60s-mid 70s.

Ha ha very good. By sheer coincidence this is the second song I’ve heard featuring Watermelons today (the other is by the Lovely Eggs). Loving the retro guitar. Lyrics lots of fun and great production. This competition is hotting up.
-
Well that’s me with your tune stuck in my head for the rest of today! I loved it, what a toe toe toe toe toe toe tapper. Well sung and well played - love the guitar.

@Katieoasis (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=22158) : Thanks, Katie! Vegetables are pretty interesting in a really good summer soup, too! ;D
@adamfarr (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20124) : Thank you, Adam! It took me awhile to figure out what to do about that second vegetable, and I admit I was surprised when lettuce worked out so well. :D
@tboswell (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20223) : Too funny! If I could whistle, I would give that a try. I do love good whistling. Thanks for the nice comments.
@mickyplankton (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20769) : Yeah, @Jzr171 (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21225) is great with the guitars and production--lucky me! :) Thank you!
@Bill Saunders (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18525) : Thanks, Bill! It was fun to do!
Jeff and I appreciate all the wonderful comments and thank you all for listening!

Who'd have thought a driving rock song could be about gardening ;D I can really visualize this person out in the garden hoeing and sweating ;D
Nice job on the vocals Vickie and your diction is perfect ;) An excellent 1minuter and very catchy too :) Great job all round :)
-
Yep...a bluesy rocker it is!
The riff/vocal collab works nicely with a light-hearted take on a blues lament. Like the vocal Vicki and gardening always a good subject for a blues. Years ago before I became a full-time songwriter (ha ha!) I wrote a slide blues thing called 'Slugs On The Warpath'.....I'll spare you the details...
Good collab and a perfect fit for the comp.

Ho ho ho holy cow this is a catchy little number isn’t it??? ;) ;D
I love it!! There’s just not enough songs about gardening out there...excellent music, groove and even better lyrics. :D
-
Guys, this is excellent work. ;D ;D
Vocals are really good. Love the delivery, especially the line 'it's too hot to move'.
the two of you sound like you've been playing together for years ;D
It's got the lot....and all in one minute, amazing ;D ;D
A real fun, catchy song.
Loved it ;D ;D

@nooms : I remember Suzie Quattro! From Happy Days! And some of her music, too. She was wild. Still is, I think. Jeff gets the credit for the intro. He gave me a finished 1 minute instrumental and I came up with the words and tune. Thanks for the nice comments.
Thanks, @crystalsuzy (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18947) ! It had been so hot and I didn't want to spend any time in the garden, sweating and getting all tired and thirsty.
@Viscount Cramer & His Orchestra : "Slugs on the Warpath"! Sounds diabolical. Thanks for the great comments.
@LostBoy (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20481) : Thanks so much for the awesome comments. I plan to move on to bigger things--with tractors and fields full of, umm, plowing...
@Binladeda (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18620) : Thank you for the complimentary feedback. What's funny is, we've never played together. We live a couple thousand miles apart, at least, and have never met in person. Ain't the internet amazing??
@Paulski (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19241) : Thank you, sir! I'd like to do more bluesy stuff. I think I just need someone to do production for me....
Thanks to everyone who listened! Jeff and I appreciate all the very lovely comments.
