Title: "Cary's Here" -- a reason for posting this
Post by: PopTodd on August 20, 2018, 07:45:18 PM
The subject of this song started college (university) today.

I wrote it when he was an infant -- yesterday. Or so it seems like.

Quite a moving time this for you, and I'm sure this gentle pop song has a special place in your heart that has stayed with you down the years. A very personal number - and besides which it's a damn catchy little thing, so full of life! I love songs that come from the heart and personal experience! Cheers for sharing!

Thanks for listening, folks.
I appreciate it. And am still reeling from the changes. So weird!
And, listening back, my voice has dropped about an octave since we recorded this.

 Ha...perfect ;D

Hermans Hermits, Dave Clarke 5, Freddie and the Dreamers.......all Brits, I know ;D
and this has a distinct 'American' feel to it.......But it's right in that mid 60's zone.  Took
me right back there, as only music can ;D ;D .   So innocent, and just poptastic fun. ;D

Excellent all round performance......top stuff ;D

Yo pops.

A lovely, lighthearted 60s style of song. It makes me smile right from the off.

On a critical note, the overall sound is quite 60s too,it seems thin and boxy to my ears, but perhaps you were aiming for that authenticity rather than a polished modern sound?

Anyway, none of that takes away from the fact it's a pretty song and my day is all the better for hearing it.  8)

Thanks so much!
I love that you enjoyed it!

And, Skub -- we were trying to go for kind of a 60s feel, of course. But not really an "authentic" sound. I think that, as this was my first album, and I produced it myself, it's just not really well produced. But, hopefully it adds to the charm?

Thanks for listening to it and for commenting. It makes me really happy that you dug it.

And, we just dropped him off at university -- living on his own for the first time -- this past week.
It's very weird around here.
Now, it's more like, "Cary's THERE."
:o

Ah, some uptempo feel good pop (no, not what we call pop these days...) music, me like!! Well performed, mix a little "dull" and 2-dimensional but that may be very intentional and simple a matter of my taste no coinciding with the mixers :-)

That was a little bit of a flash in the past @PopTodd (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19771)  :) Totally took me back to that sweet innocent vibe of the 60's. Made me feel happy and light, which doesn't happen much with songs these days, so I loved it  :-* Your voice sounded very youthful, especially the way you hit those high notes :)
I thought the production sounded perfect, for this era of music style  :)

I love the story. And I see all the remarks about the retro-ness of the tune and treatment, which must be why I like it so much. :D

That's all I have.
