So get out your paring knives and cut, cut, cut your 8 minute masterpiece to 60 seconds or so (i.e. only keep the best parts :o)
Here are the rules:
- any genre/style/theme/mood/vibe/speed
- may enter as solo, or additionally, as part of maximum one collab.
- no voting for your own song!
- entrants must vote at the end of the contest or face disqualification of their entry
- Sept. 30th, 2018 midnight is the deadline for submissions

im very excited about this competition and ive written a song especially for it. its currently playing in my head at the moment. the music is nailed and im about 50% through the lyric process. Hope to do an acoustic demo over the weekend. Will put in Works in Progress initially.

It's getting close to done but, because of circumstances sort of beyond our control, it will likely be at least another two weeks before it is done. So it's coming.
I suspect, with a deadline so far in the future, some people are procrastinating due to the illusion there is "plenty of time"!

Good bump...zero ideas, no idea where to start, not a clue. But we’ve got six weeks to do something that lasts a minute. How hard is that?!

I've got 2 songs done but only started working on one of them. For this one I will need to collab with a female jazz vocal or it will not see the light of day. The other is my second string effort which I will sing so that should be done in time.

Forgot to mention that it must contain an intro, at least 2 verses, three choruses, a bridge, a solo and an outro.

Yeah, I did all that Paul.
My track is actually 10 minutes long,but I put 10 compressors on the stereo out channel,which brings it down to 1 minute.
Cool trick eh? 8)

Is it possible to have a list on entries on this thread,updated as they appear? Sometimes stuff can be overlooked in amongst the regular tracks in finished songs.
That way simpletons such as moi have a point of reference. :)

Hey Heeey!
Looking forward to giving these a proper listening to, the one's I've heard so far have been excellent.
I've gone a little rogue whilst Darren's on holiday and been tweaking something that had been on the back-burner for this, so a DNMC entry will be coming! :)
Probably a better one for the bar, doubt there's too many examples, but the subject matter reminded me of this 50 second jam which shows up on my favourite White Stripes album

Despite my promises, I don’t think I’ll get around to recording a shorty...a lifetime of listening to prog doesn’t help my ability in this area.
But wow, the standard of the entries is absolutely amazing - well done to all!

Although I didn’t enter, I enjoyed these songs so much and I honestly think I could listen to an album’s worth of one-minute wonders. I couldn’t write 40 or 50 one minute songs though - I find it’s hard enough coming up with song ideas, and when I do, I need to do it justice for three or four minutes at least! Now, there are some very prolific writers on the forum - how about an album’s worth chaps?! You know who you are!!
