Title: FANTASMOGLORIA!
Post by: Featherstone on June 10, 2018, 04:15:09 PM
Dear All

Pretty depressing topic !

I have just finished recording this rather emotional / epic song - it was written about 8 years ago when my girlfriend was sent to prison on her 21st birthday. I have never been able to bring myself to record it until recently. The lyrics are about visiting her and seeing a ghost through her eyes as if everything she said was just to try and make me feel better as though she was an alturistic angel without a selfish bone in her body, when I could see it was absolute hell for her.

The second verse is about the struggle men can have expressing their emotions and it touches on the modern suicide epidemic in the UK which is now the biggest killer of adult men.

The link is here to copy and paste to a private sound cloud.

FEATURING - Robbie Keys (King Crimson) on the Hammond organ, Howes (Katy Melua) Hawkins on bass (Rod Stewart)

Lyrics -

And baby when I get to see
your eyes
seem to say to me
you're alright

and all these things
I felt inside
dream our dreams
and live inside of our minds

OOOOh

I wish I had the chance to see you
I would tell you what you meant to me
would you take me there
But we all live in the real world
and in my head you know
It's not what it seems.

You see me here tonight
I sold my soul to you
A good old fashioned fight
See me hit the ground...

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Hi Ben,

Extrodinarily beautiful song. I would agree it's epic. It's sad and powerful. Loved it.

Just wow. I'm speechless. Listening again to make sure I'm not dreaming.

It is really great.

Awww! Thank you Lynn

That is a lovely compliment!

I can't stop listening to the hammond organ solo.

I can relate to that thing of leaving raw songs until a later date when they can be properly faced. I have a few of them in a cupboard, along with the skeletons.

This really builds up into something very surprising and becomes quite momentous by the end - all following that delicate opening where emotions are articulated in acoustic ballad style. The acoustic subtle riff is really good and the vocals so sweet and dreamy - until that passionate ending that is.

Very accomplished this, a bit of a monster piece of music!

Thank's for listening MichaelA

There is over 63 tracks on the song! It was a nightmare to mix :D :D :D

Looking forward to hearing your skeletons.

This reminds me of 'cisco in the late 60's

Really cool and I sympathise with you with 63 tracks, well done, it can be like driving a dog sled with 63 dogs on...twas a real job to bring it together, I can hear that.

Writing as I listen. Lovely natural feel. So beautiful and sad. Fab instrumentation and special little touches of percussion. Love the parts when you strip everything right back then bring back in. Very evocative, especially knowing the subject matter. Change in pace excellent. And organ is just fab, instant psychedelic feel conveying the frustration etc. So good. Amazing playing, excellent vocals. Like the happier notes towards at the end offering a little light at the end, then back to that beautiful guitar shade. Love it. What a journey. And it is indeed most epic. Fastasmo-tastic!
