I'll be honest. None of the songs I liked in April are on this list... (I don't want to hurt any feelings of those who made it but I'm just saying it from my own personal musical taste). For me, Murder in Paradise, Take this City and Avalanche would have all made the list. Of the ones that did, only one really made enough of an influence on me to actually remember anything of it.

Again, sorry. Personal view.

I have voterized.  ;D  It was agonizing, as the choices all seemed pretty equal to me.

That's what the monthly comp is all about Sterix. Whoever hosts the competition picks their fav tracks and everyone else gets to vote.

It doesn't mean the choice of the host is definitive,or the best songs, just  personal preference.

You should host next month's comp, then you get to pick.  ;)

@Skub (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20061) and @Paulski (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19241) : I'm too new on this forum to make THAT many enemies that quickly!   ;D

But I'm happy to do it if you're struggling to find sacrifices volunteers. If yes, my bank account details are... :P

Ha,you walked into that one my brother!  :D

Seriously though,it'd be great to get new blood hosting the show. I've always found the bribes to be a good earner. @Paulski (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19241) and @pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269) are loaded and pay very well, that's why they win loads.  :)

@Sterix (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=22024) - great to know that you would have nominated my tune if you had been hosting - I'll still pay you of course  ;D

The SOTM is fun, but it isn't why I'm here. I'm here for the crits (when I get around to posting songs), the more brutal (but not nasty), the better. ;D The SOTM is just an extra perk. I often don't agree with the winners, but I can always understand why others vote for them. A lot of the outcome is just personal taste, as was mentioned.

I know it’s a lovely sunny bank holiday Monday in England, well Cornwall to be specific but please keep the votes coming in.

I'm ashamed to say that what with the other comp and all I clean forgot to vote this time even though it was on my 'to do' list....in my head that is, which is increasingly less reliable.

Good luck to all anyway!

Hey Sterix

If you do host well done to you

Generally hosts shortlist songs posted within that calader month (May for you) to 5 or 6 songs for others to vote on. 2 - 3 weeks for a deadline....and either vote for a winner or for a top 3! Most top votes wins.

Up to you if you want to exclude peeps with less than 100 posts....I used this rule just to help me short list as otherwise I'd still be shortlisting now

I think that covers it but any questions let us know :)

Darren

Just choose five of your favourite songs submitted by members with over 100 posts In May and then ask everyone to vote for their top 3. Oh yeah, make sure you have a team to help you with the count. After that there's only the awards ceremony to arrange, venue,  trophies,  food,  drink, etc etc. Simple really
