Hey peeps, after my documentary on teenage tribes, I thought I'd make a detour to Beatnik World to check out the Jazz Coaster and get the lowdown on the original teenage tribe, the Beats.

I'm sticking to jazz, man!
Those chicks aint no good for a Beat
They nags like crazy, daddio
They spend all your bread, man.
All the cats know, jazz dont nag
All the cats know, love's a drag
Love puts you in Alcatraz
Dump the chick & dig the jazz!
All the cats know, jazz dont nag.
Marriage is a big drag, man.
Nag nag nag nag nag nag nag!
I'm sticking to jazz, man!
That chick ruined my vibrations,
That chick sat on my tone arm, daddio
She's stifling my poetry, man
All the cats know, jazz dont nag
All the cats know, love's a drag
Love puts you in Alcatraz
Dump the chick & dig the jazz!
All the cats know, jazz dont nag.
Man, I'm a hipster
I don't dig no Squaresville jive!
Nag nag nag nag nag nag nag.

Oh this is bloody brilliant! I laughed out loud several times. Brilliant blend of funny lyrics, sound effects and delivery. I think this is the third track of yours I've heard and they have all been wonderfully crazy but this tops them all. What more can I say - I love it.

Hope this is supposed to be funny because I laughed a lot!!
gotta think of a word to describe this new genre you've invented..
A crazy fab listen mate!!
-
Sorry mate, I can't find the keys to the door on this one... I massively respect your quest for the new, but this one is a step too freeform for this particular daddio to connect with it. I'm probably too square for it. (I still have your last track on repeat though...)

WTF Silver machine...
Its Saturday night, I have a few Stellas in tow, Thought I would come on and check the musical mystery machine that is The song writer forum.
I love the way you give main stream music the finger and drop something like this....
Ok, I can't bop my head or sing along, But experimental, hell yeah...
Fair play to you for thinking outside the box....I remember "The Streets" Album, same thought, WTF but I now love that album, its different, and was new back then.
Keep sticking to the man..

It's great popping into your surreal world Silver Machine. Although I'm Glad it's only for 2 minutes at a time cos my brain isn't as elastic as it used to be. Keep them coming pal. Your imagination puts the rest of us to shame.

Beatniks eh ? We're going back to 61, turtle necks, frothy coffee, sharoots , duffle coats, Tubby Hayes and Alexis Korner. Cool track dude. I love the way that you hatch match and dispatch with a total disregard for the conventional. Loved it :)
-
Ha Ha! great!
It would have been worth it just for the use of the word "daddio" never mind all the other cool stuff in here. I love the opening piano riff most of all...it's excellent...
Do you use some kind of "narrator" style text-to-speech thing for the vocals?
Sounds great anyway!
-
Hi Silver Machine,
right up my street weird and wonderful. Keep them coming.

Amazing work!
Your style feels like you are shaking some music box and something fantastic and random falls out each time!
Is there a process behind this kind of creativity?
I hope there is so I'll be able to do some of this too

Your songs always put a smile on my face. This one did not disappoint. You have again told the story of people I recognize as modern clichés so concisely and with humor that's really brilliant. The music is well conceived and executed. I hope you're not insulted if I say you remind me a little of The Residents. Not that you sound like them, but that you are on the same wonderfully bizarre plane.

Time I said thanks to all you peeps for listening and liking (or not quite liking).
Yeah I suppose the idea is to see how far I can go with this stuff without using rudimentary things like singing and melody, yet still retain something that's appealing and interesting.
PaulAds. Yeah, text to speech and voice samples. I like the unnatural and often unexpected quality those voices can imbue text with. Though getting them to say it exactly how you want it requires manipulation and a bit of ingenuity.
2tuoo. Hey thanks man , that's a very cool metaphor with the music box . I like it!
As for why I do it. Yeah music bores me. Why do peeps knock out the same carbon copy of somebody elses song they appropriated in their youth as their own style, over a whole lifetime?
As for how I do it. Strange music requires strange practices. The secret is making love to ugly women. Yep, works every time, gets my muse running wild.. Forget the pretty ones.
When two ugly peple get together something strange and beautiful comes out of it.
Thanks again peeps for your kind words.
-
Hi Silver Machine, your ugly people logic made me laugh. Well, as did your crazy song, a dart of off the wall fabness. I am glad there are people like you making different kinds of music, away from the mainstream, but with attitude and self-deprecation no less.
Definitely a worthwhile discovery for me, this! ;D

Well I reckon Stephen Hawking's masquerading under a different name on here to showcase his artistic side.
Reminded me of that William Shatner version of Rocket Man at the beginning.
How the F am I supposed to review something like this...I don't know.
I do enjoy the short escapes into the surreal that you provide though.
Creative and original, liked the nag nag part and the piano.

Probably the strangest 1m30 of audio I have heard this year.....
-
Hi S&M
Yep Frank Zappa is smiling down on you for this 1:30.
I loved it too.
Now back to cranking out tunes I appropriated when I wore a younger man's clothes... ;D ;D

Ha well that was different, now to put it in a genre would need a lot of head scratching, so original and so weird in a nice way of course
