Welcome to the "DARK SIDE OF THE TUNE" contest!

We (PaulAds and Paulski) are (marginally) honoured to serve as your humble hosts
and hope to help resolve any tiffs, set-to's or dust-ups related to the RULES below:

Deadline is midnight, October 31st, 2017 (Hallowe'en!  ;D)
Must be a new original song posted in the Finished Songs forum.
Should be a "dark" song. (You can post a happy ditty - but it's likely to be judged harshly!)
You must have > 100 posts on the forum (if you aren't there yet - well - get reviewing!)
Limit is one solo offering and one collab entry per contestant

After it is posted, please send the link to your song to one of the Paul's above and we'll add it to the master list at the top of this thread.
If you have any questions, either assume the worst or, ask one of your Paul hosts.
We will be glad to (begrudgingly) help you.  ;D ;D

Good luck everyone!
(a gunshot is heard and the Devil's black horses bolt from the gate...)

68! Thank you. Now I'm kinda cheating. Haha.

But I think our song is going to be great! I can be this stoked about it because my writing partner is doing most of the work. I'm just along for the gory ride.

Still got ages yet! :)

Am well excited, might even manage a cillab and a solo

I'm expecting some real nice spooky tunes if last year's entries are anything to go by and I'd encourage everyone to have a go,  even for no other reason that sharing a stage with the quality music here.

Good a reason as any for people to check out last year's winning entry, digger going to try defend? =D

Almost finished writing a song about an old lady with dementia who cries because she cannot recall the words to the songs that she loved to sing as a young woman. I had the idea that the devil waits to steal the melodies that she loves until silence falls all around. The woman recalls the words to the Rogers and Hammerstein song 'Edelweiss' and the George Gershwin tune ''Summertime' and is encouraged to 'Sing' in defiance to the devil.

it's almost complete.

Yes Neil and PaulAds - go for it!
Although knowing you two guys are entering diminishes my chances somewhat :(
I hope to get over my freakin' cold by the weekend so I can do the vocals on my entry. Been practicing on my commute to work but it's been sounding pretty croaky.
Hey - maybe that'll add to the dark effect. Anyone know of a de-croaker plug-in?  ;D ;D

I can't upload my entry.  I have the WAV file waiting on my desktop And have tried 4 times this evening to upload it. I've achieved 89% of the upload twice but it then goes back to zero.  Any ideas.  My internet connection appears to be stretched with multiple users streaming and using the connection for all kind stations of communication. The dark side strikes again :-(

Nineteen songs! Awesome!! Well done everyone!  ;D ;D

So now it's time to vote. The hosts have huddled and come up with the following RULES. That's CAPITALIZED to emphasis just how IMPORTANT they are!  ;D ;D

Pick your top 5 songs ranked 1-5
Send your choices to both hosts: PaulAds and Paulski
Deadline is Nov 15th at midnight
No voting for your own flippin' song or one you collab'd on (not that anyone would think of doing that!)
If you don't vote your song will be disqualified
If you do vote you will be rewarded handsomely in heaven (or wherever you end up)

Happy listening and good luck!  ;D ;D

Your ingracious hosts..

Hi! I caught a cold so no competition for me. But I like the song I wrote so I might post it if I feel like recording it later on.

I like that you can vote for five songs. That makes decisions a little bit easier.

Good luck!

Congrats to Caz a very worthy winner, and to the runners up.

Also I've had a great time listening and love these comps, so cheers to everyone who made and entry and to the Paul's for making it happen.

Much love,
Scott

Brilliant tracks and a well-deserved champion.
So many people tried something a little different with this one... it was a great comp.
Looking forward to whatever the next comp is about.
