Title: Throw A Seven (a George W Bush song)
Post by: PaulAds on July 28, 2017, 07:58:12 AM
Throw a Seven

Gotta make it happen somehow gotta, gotta make it fly
Gotta keep it coming and never let them know why
Gotta plan It out, and I gotta play the fool
Had to throw a seven just to get me through school

Gotta keep it going gotta get all the pieces in position
Gotta be seen to be some kind of muppet on a mission
Gotta make suckers of the angry mob
Had to throw a seven just to get myself a job

Gotta get a cover story gotta get it into the news
Gotta get the suit and I gotta get the tie and the shoes
Gotta rig the game so it's not as it would seem
Had to throw a seven just to get me on the team

Gotta keep the cover up I gotta try and look surprised
Gotta somehow try to look all of the people in the eyes
Gotta shut it down or else it's gonna fail
Had to throw a seven just to keep me out of jail

Gotta get away with it I gotta gotta gotta getaway
Gotta sound convincing no matter what i say
Gotta keep them occupied in other affairs
Gotta throw a seven hope that nobody cares.

Paul,
Like it although I didn't know about the particular Presidential reference
I like the repeating lines approach.
Interesting to hear how you play it musically with the 5 section

Hi Paul

Good stuff - great hook.
I love the percussiveness of all those "gotta" lines.
Gives it a real drive  ;D
Seems like it wants a conclusion where he looks back at what he did?
"I had to throw a seven or my legacy was lost" or sth.. Just a thought.

Enjoyed it!  ;D

   Howdy Paul,
Like it, snappy! rattles along like a train behind schedule. Wish you hadn't told us who it was about though. The mystery would have made it more intriguing. Would also have made it more timeless, lots of people like Bush in the past, and i'm sure their will be lots like him in the future. Nice write though.

Thanks Neil, Paul and V54  :)

Thanks too, the xmaster, I'll be sure to check out your stuff.

Just a throwaway thing, really...knee jerk reaction.

His legacy, bizarrely, seems to amount to being absolved from any significant blame over the wilful instigation of the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocents based on a pack of lies by doing some shit paintings depicting the imagined misgivings and/or misfortunes of some of the possible protagonists.

I heard an interview a few years back with a guy who was a script-writer who had written stuff that Dubya had, on occasion,  comically stumbled over...and, as I recall, he said something to the effect that there are two things people think about G W Bush...

A he's stupid
B he's very likeable

The guy said you'd be quite wrong on both counts  :o

I waded through "family of secrets" by Russ Baker a while back...sigh...
