Title: Let's write a party hit! Group collaboration project?
Post by: Jenna on June 26, 2017, 06:26:27 AM
I'm changing the title of this to see if anyone might be interested in a group collaboration on the forum. I started this song from a writing prompt in a songwriting group that does a word play every Thursday. I enjoy seeing how everyone works out the challenge. Mine grew from a four-line prompt into ten or so trial verses throughout the day. Since it started out like this:

I'm picking up a new old habit
And chilling it on ice
Spinning vinyl memories
In a fool's paradise

I decided to roll with the drinking theme and tried telling a story incorporating the names of alcoholic beverages of various types and brands, along with a distillery or distillery location setting or two. It's proven to be more of a challenge than I expected. It's still choppy and in need of finesse between the verses, so I'm thinking a refrain or prechorus might help tie things together. What do you think so far? If anybody has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Ever since you left
I'm baked out of my mind
Filling up this vacancy
With every liquid I can find

They call it Southern Comfort
It starts after eight
For every man or woman
Coming by to nurse their pain

They're serving up Painkillers
Fireballs and Rum Swizzles
Topping them off with
Little splashes and a drizzles

Johnnie Walker went and sat right down
Ordered Jim Beam to pour another round
Then let out a Rebel Yell
that echoed all around Heaven Hill

The Prince of Wales showed up
With the Ruby Dutchess
On Moscow Mules hauling
Rattlesnakes and White Russians
In with them rolled a London fog
Filling up Paradise with Salty dogs

Around the time the Prince was falling down
We passed around his Royal Crown
(Wanting to lead up to some crazy late night bar chaos)

(^^ edited)

Damn the weather
Called out Tom Collins
I'd rather see it dark and stormy
Sipping on a Long Island

. . . to be continued . . .

The Prince of Wales showed up

On Moscow Mules hauling
Rattlesnakes and White Russians
In with them rolled a London fog
Filling up Paradise with Salty dogs

Thats your chorus.

I like the idea you have here, distillery location, sometimes with verses you can take the best lines from what you write and put them together, in other words take what the song needs but its not a song yet if you know what i mean   ???

Its your flow and as Bin would say "I like the taste of this"   ;D

:D Definitely not a song yet. It may never get to that stage, although it's been fun trying to piece the puzzle together. I'm picturing a peppy tune for the bar patrons to enjoy after ten.

May I ask why you'd choose that verse for the chorus?

Prince of Wales Ruby Dutchess Moscow Mules hauling, Rattlesnakes and White Russians Paradise with Salty dogs and sure go ahead throw a London fog in there as well, mix them all together and by god i be doing cartwheels across the dance floor.

You can mix me a drink anytime, have to say has to be one of the best chorus out there, but its your call.

Country rock barn dancing style im hearing and if you're looking for backing singers count me in, thats if im still standing after all that  ;D   ;D

I'd love to see that!

On edit: I've changed the title and focus of this post to see if we can get a group collaboration project going. Clearly, it's still in the lyric writing phase, but I think with all of the talent here on this board we could turn it into a multinational party hit that plays in every English-speaking bar while the patrons sing along swaying with drinks in hand. What say you? Can we pool together and write a killer tune that every bar wants to play on their jukeboxes?

Oldbutyet is hearing it as country rock, and I'm sort of hearing it the same - starting out slow and sad and then twisting into an upbeat rock-style song - sort of like "Prop me up Against the Jukebox if I Die."

I've collected a lot of drink/cocktail names and have started sorting them into groups like characters, animals, places, etc.

Here they are (not done sorting yet, so sorry for the current state of chaos):

Here is a drinking song that was going nowhere for me.  You are welcome to cannibalize it if something works for you.

Fixed the formatting issues, and made some lyrical changes on Saturday July 2.  HTM

It’s a little bit hard to figure out, You know it’s just a little bit tough.
To know how much tequila is too much tequila, and how much tequila's enough.
But, the one I figure without any trouble, - The one thing I always know.
Is when I need just a little bit more... so I’d best get a bottle to go.

So hard to tell just how much tequila's enough.
You just never know til you know.
It ain't rocket science but it's pretty damned tough
And you just never know til you know.

You know it’s too little when you can’t forget her
so you drink just a little bit more.
You know it’s too much when it’s too darned late
and you’re waking up on the floor.

So how much tequila is too much tequila,
and how much tequila's enough?
No easy way to figure it out,
and gettin it wrong can be pretty darned rough.
Not much difference tween one too many and a little too little I know.
So just to be cautious and just to be safe, better get me a bottle to go.

So hard to tell just how much tequila's enough.
You just never know til you know.
It ain't rocket science but it's pretty damned tough
And you just never know til you know.

How much tequila is too much tequila?  And how much tequila's enough?

You know it’s too little when you can’t forget her
so you drink just a little bit more.
You know it’s too much when it’s too darned late
and you’re waking up on the floor.

It's so hard to tell just how much tequila's enough.
You just never know til you know.
It ain't rocket science, but it's pretty damned tough
and you just never know til you know.
But you know it’s too little when you can’t forget her
so you drink just a little bit more.
You don’t know it’s too much until it’s too darned late
and you’re waking up on the floor.

Hardtwistmusic - why I did this I don't know. All I know is I did. But anyway...I decided to put some of your lyrics to some chords and this is the result https://www.audiomack.com/song/darren1664/tequila :P

Not a great recording or track so I hope I haven't offended you or your lyrics but was fun writing music to words for a change (normally write the other way about). Anyway was just a music fart and thought I'd share :P (Nice lyrics though :))

Edit: Sorry Jenna I completely hijacked your thread. Just posting now quickly to say that I like the idea of this and have been thinking on it and will check in tomorrow with a proper reply (Sorry just got completely sidetracked :P)

I loved what you did with this.  I thought your vocal was perfect for the song.  If you want to run with this and fine tune it, feel free.  As long as you credit me for my work on the lyrics, you're free to do anything you want with this.  And if (when you are done) you want to send me the chords, I could add some other instrumentation (if you want.)

If you want to run with this, consider it your song with no limitations except the need to credit me for the lyrics.

 Hey guys,

Don't know how far you've got with this, but if you're
still looking for a backing track.  I've got this that might
 suit.

 https://soundcloud.com/binladeda/spin-the-bottle/s-8U5TP

It still needs a lot of work, but I think it's ready for some
lyrics/vocals. Let me know if you want it. ;D

I listened, then went back to read the lyric.  It's a perfect fit.

Me? Last call? Woot! Haha. I'd be more comfortable if someone with more experience would take the lead on putting it all together if it goes that direction. I love the backing track! It is a perfect fit! It's got a  great Looooziana Bayou feel to it. And love the too much tequila song! I could see people swaying and singing that with drinks in hand, no problem.

Sorry I disappeared after posting this. I've been putting my all into learning the keyboard, most of which involved maddening technical issues. I picked up a midi keyboard on Ebay and sadly it's not fully functional as described in the listing, but it took me a good week or so to figure out that the problem wasn't with my system but the keyboard itself. I'll be getting a refund on it and the seller told me just to keep it with apologies, so that was a nice bonus.

Hijacked thread? Nah. It's all good. Says the ------> Queen of thread hijacks!

Party on! I was just about to chill for the evening, and now that backing track has me wanting to get up and boogie.

First of all group collaboration project has been try and tested on these songwriter forums in the past and has never amount to anything worth talking about, i mean group collaboration, but we're going to put that where it belongs for the moment might need it later as a cocktail drink, a hangover cure   ;D

You already have experience replying so thats a great start, put your lyrics together dont have to be in order of rules and whatever, just lay them out so we can all see whatever flow takes us.

Gorilla fart, is that a hangover cure or just the end of the night playing piano   ;D  sounds like a great end to a party   8)  okay i wont mention the fridge no more   ;D  you got room for us all Jenna    8)

 :D

We are fully stocked down to the bags of ice and corn nuts. Plenty of room. Bring your tent and sleeping bag - but no promises on breakfast. I'm sure there will be plenty of gorilla farts to go around in the morning competing with the neighborhood lawn mowers and weed whackers. For a hangover cure, you're on your own, sorry to say. I've never found a remedy, although I've not tried the local menudo. I hear it's the best cure there is.

Would it be acceptable to edit the lyrics in the OP as I/we go along? There's always a first time for everything, to use a well-worn cliche.

This what I've got so far:

I'm picking up a new old habit
And chilling it on ice
Spinning vinyl memories
At a bar named Fool's Paradise

Since you left I've been
half-baked out of my mind
Filling up this vacancy
With every liquid I can find

(pick up pace to party tune)

They call it Southern Comfort
It starts after eight
For every man or woman around
Who comes by to nurse their pain

They serve up Painkillers, Fireballs and Rum Swizzles
Topping them off with, Little splashes and a drizzles
Rumor has it you've moved on, and left our love behind
But I'm still dancing every night
With every other women in town.

When Johnnie Walker comes in he sits right down
Orders Jim Beam to pour another round

The Prince of Wales rolls in with the Ruby Dutchess
On Moscow Mules with Rattlesnakes and White Russians
Trailing behind we get a London fog

Damn the Weather yells out Tom Collins
I'd rather have it Dark 'n Stormy sipping Long Islands
Hugging girls in bikinis chugging Appletinis
Enjoying the Sea Breeze with some Sex on the Beach.

 Hey guys,

Am I to presume that the gig is on then ;D ;D
If so, here's a link that you should be able to download, so you
can sing along to in the car ;D

 https://soundcloud.com/binladeda/spin-the-bottle/s-8U5TP

I think the lyrics and the music are a good fit, and that either can easily
be made to fit the other.  Have you got a vocalist yet ??  I see that as the
next step.  Ideally, you need someone who can sing 'in character', to do it
justice.  There are two guys in the forum who immediately spring to mind,
Paulski and Skub. There are probably others, but those are the two that I
know can pull it off.  But if you already have one, let me know and I'll
 send the stems.

We would also need someone who can mix/produce etc. Once the lyrics are in
place, I'm more than happy to send more options/ammunition.  I've tagged a
bit of lead on the end just to see what it sounds like.  I think some slide guitar
would work very well with this.

Anyway, let me know your thoughts guys.
We're already two thirds of the way there ;D ;D

Very good suggestions, Binladeda. I have no vocalist in mind but can hear a melody coming together so I could try to get a rough outline of a guide vocal down if needed. The backing track is a blast. I was hoping to start it off slow and sad like the lyrics with proper country "woe is me" intro then morph into a big party. It might be a good place to introduce the slide guitar.

I'm wondering if we should have Jack Daniels setting off a Redneck Prairie Fire at the end with his next day Gorilla Farts from the Canadian Club/Jungle Juice combo. Nah. That's probably too crass.  They just go together so well. :D

Sounding good Bin, wasn't to sure of your earlier link Darren threw a curve ball into the pot but hey Darren perfectly understandable, Verlon writes great lyrics and i should know, really looking forward to hearing your style go for it man   8)

Bin great suggestion there with Paulski and Skub and im sure with all these cocktails on the table, more will come   ;D  kind of reminds me of that Field of Dreams movie.

Lets make this happen   8)

Just to be clear where we are at. . .

Binladeda has written a backing track (which sounds to me like it fits perfectly) and offered to sing in the lyric to said backing track.  (I'm sure he wrote the backing track, less sure he offered to sing in the lyric to it.)

Jenna has no problem (and has expressed her support for) Binladeda to do so.

Sooooo....  if I have this right, we are at a point of successful collaboration.

Am I reading all this correctly?

Just trying to make sure we are all on the same page.  I'm a little bit pumped over this.

Yes. Very good. Obviously, still working out the lyrics. I'm throwing everything out there to see what sticks. The current sketch is as follows:

I'm picking up a new old habit
And chilling it on ice
Spinning vinyl memories
At a bar named Fool's Paradise

Since you left I have been
half-baked out of my mind
Filling up this vacancy
With every liquid I can find

For every man or woman around
Who comes by to nurse their pain

They serve up Painkillers,
Fireballs and Rum Swizzles
Topping them off with,
Little splashes and a drizzles

I don't need you any more
To have a good time
I'm still dancing every night
With every women I can find.

Here in Paradise Johnnie Walker sits down
Orders Jim Beam to pour another round
Then he lets out a Rebel Yell
So loud it echoes all around Heaven Hill

The Prince of Wales rolls in with the Ruby Dutchess
On Moscow Mules with Rattlesnakes and White Russians
Trailing behind we get a London fog
That fills up Paradise with Salty dogs

Shortly after his Royal Arrival
The Brokeback shooter needs a Corpse Reviver
He rains Hellfire on his Royal Highness
With a Silver Bullet threatening to make him a Flatliner

Listen Mr. Rich and Rare, hand over the Royal Crown
Or I'll Smash this Gunfire into your Dewar's Scotch
Instead of prancing like the Incredible Hulk
You'll be howling Bloody Mary holding your . . . Wehelll

They serve up Painkillers,
Fireballs and Rum Swizzles
Topping them off with,
Little splashes and a drizzles

Rumor has it you've moved on,
and left our love behind
But I'm still dancing every night
With every women I can find.

Alternate sketches:

Damn the Weather yells out Tom Collins
I'd rather have it Dark 'n Stormy sipping Long Islands
Hugging girls in bikinis chugging Appletinis
Enjoying the Sea Breeze with some Sex on the Beach.

Jack Daniels
Fireball
Gorilla Fart
Redneck Prairie Fire

Harveywallbanger
Hanky-panky
Pink Lady
Angel Face
Fuzzy navel
Earthquake
Mudslide
Amber moon
Between the sheets

I don't know how anybody else would feel about this, but to get some of the oddball things in that pair up well, how would a little spoken outro that fades out? Kind of like the next day town gossip . . .

"Say, whatever happened to Harry Wallbanger last night?" "I heard he went off for some hanky-panky with that Pink Lady with the Angel Face. You know, the one with the fuzzy navel?"

We probably have different ideas of the term "successful" in "successful collaboration."  For me, it just means a song resulted, and no one is an enemy.  ;o)

Successful collaboration, still early days yet Verlon, with Jenna call on this and Bin link we got something to go on, the verses are lay out but if you think of any changes then lay your thoughts out, the whole idea now is to have fun making something happen here, im still up for the backing vocals  ;D  after a few cocktails that is   ;D

Yes. Please. I overwrite to get the rough shape of the structure, then bring in the chainsaw to shape the final figure. After that come the carving knives for the finer details. If anything needs changed to fit musical demands of one sort or another it's doable. I'm open to adding, subtracting, changing lyrics. Nothing is made of cement here.

Hey Verlon, my old man give me good advice many years back, he said "never argue with a woman who has a chainsaw in one hand and a carving knife in the other"   ;D

This would be how I would sequence this and cut back some of the lines.  Didn't add much.  Didn't feel it needed much added.

FOOL'S PARADISE:

I'm picking up a new old habit
And chilling it on ice
Spinning vinyl memories
At a bar named Fool's Paradise

Since you left I have been
half-baked out of my mind
Filling up this vacancy
With every liquid I can find

(pick up pace to party tune)

Here in Paradise Johnnie Walker sits down
Orders Jim Beam to pour another round
Then he lets out a Rebel Yell
So loud it echoes all around Heaven Hill

I don't need you any more
To have a good time
I'm still dancing every night
With every women I can find.

They serve up Painkillers,
Fireballs and Rum Swizzles
Topping them off with,
Little splashes and a drizzles

They'll pour  call it you Southern Comfort
It starts up after eight
For every man or woman one who comes around
Who comes by to To deny and nurse their pain

Rumor has it you've moved on,
and left our love behind
But And, I'm still dancing every night
With every women I can find.

Damn the Weather yells out Tom Collins
I'd rather have it Dark 'n Stormy
Even dark and stormy, Long Island's within reach.
Hugging We got girls in bikinis chugging Appletinis
Enjoying the Sea Breeze with Sex on the Beach.

Rumor has it you've moved on,

Topping them off with,
Little splashes and a drizzles

SPOKEN OUT-TRO:  "Say, whatever did you hear what happened to Harry Harvey Wallbanger last night?" "I heard He went off for some hanky-panky with that Pink Lady with the Angel Face. You know, the one with the fuzzy navel?"

Haha! Those are some very smart men who raised you boys. Although I can guarantee my chainsaw and carving knives are for lyrics only, so far.  :D

I like your changes Verlon. Very nice, but I did favor the Prince of Wales verse over the Tom Collins verse. It would be rough on a vocalist, though, and it may not have as much popular appeal. How many of these drinks are outdated on today's bar scene? Have any idea?

The "rough on the vocalist" is pretty much why I cut it out.  And it might be (can't ever tell til it's sung) a little hard on listeners too.

Keep in mind also that I'm (for all effects and purposes) a non-drinker, and don't really know what I'm talking about when it comes to mixed drinks.  (on average, I'll have a beer every other month or so - all consumed during the heat of the summer when cold, cold beer REALLY tastes good)

So, don't be afraid to over-rule me.  I won't take it badly.  Never have.  Hopefully never will.

I'm not a drinker, either. Alcohol gives me migraines, so it's a very rare treat on very special occasions only. I know nothing about the current bar scene. I may run this by someone who does, say a younger person that frequents the local watering holes.

Hey Folks,Bin informs me I am a volunteer army style, for the project.  :D

As I explained to the man himself,I'd be honoured to contribute in any way,but I am constrained by having no chance to record anything vocal wise for the next couple of weeks, since it's holiday time here and I'll get no peace or quiet to do anything with a mic. Nothing non violent, anyway.  :D

Maybe best if you all rattle on in the meantime, keep the momentum and I'll chip in when the domestic dust settles,if there is a need,by then. I've downloaded Bin's track,I'll burn a copy for the car and see if something inspires in the meantime.

Has a melody line for the lyrics been established as yet?

Hey Skub, just happy you're coming along for the ride at all. Thanks for volunteering, even if strong-armed into it. We've still got plenty to keep us going for now. I'm hearing a potential melody but haven't yet put it to the test. Not sure if others have got something in mind. Enjoy your holiday! It's best enjoyed without blood, sweat and tears.  :D

Hey there - Paulski here.
It appears that I've been voluntold, I mean recruited by the binster as a possible crooner for this endeavour  ;D ;D Why is it that every time I end a word in "our" spell check doesn't like it. But the queen does! But I digress. I'll download bin's lovely track and play it on my drudgery commute. Maybe something will percolate - maybe not. And maybe what does will be rubbish  ;D ;D And feel free to un-volunteer me if a better singer comes along. Oops I notice skub already has  ;D
Happy to tickle some ivories if needed too if you're really begging for punishment.

Hi mate...I am glad you liked it. I was just playing noodling around with it as I really liked your words. There's a great rhythm to them. I will see how I get on with this and I will definitely credit you for the lyrics. I'm not the best or quickest with producing a song from this point will give it my best go and I'd love further input from you in terms of instruments! Anyway - I have hijacked a thread so will move this to a new thread when I have an update ;)

Will keep you posted

Darren

And sorry Jenna...still mean to contribute to your thread but life got carried away!

What happened to our vocalist? Do we need to write melody? Would that make it easier/faster/more likely to get recorded? I know Skub said a couple of weeks, so I've been taking a backseat for the downtime. Now I see he's requesting a melody? Am I reading that correctly? What have we? I've got a week left before a three-week commitment snuffs out my creative energies. Skub my man, what do you need to get this done? Just say the word and we'll do what we can to deliver the goods.

And where's that Paulski guy??

OK OK I goofed off last week with family visiting etc. My bad.

OK - so let me get this straight - the lyric is written and we're supposed to sing it to bin's track? Or are there other options or ????

I'm a dumb Canuck so things need to be spelt out or I don't get it  ;D ;D and I don't want to step on anyone's toes with my big snowshoes on  ;D

I just a dumb American, so I'm afraid we're in the same boat, neighbor. When are you going to bring your pet moose down here for a field trip?

Here's where I'm hung up on pecking out a melody - I can't figure out the key to Bin's sample track let alone a chord progression, so I could use some help there. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out the key to a song but this one has me stumped. Now watch it be something easy as pie and make me look like a complete buffoon.  :D That's assuming I don't already!

Vacays are allowed, Mr. Paulski. There is this thing called real life. ;)

And yes, the plan is to start with Bin's track and evolve everything from there. We've got the rough lyrics, the rough musical ambiance, and now we need a rough melody. After that . . . you know how these things go. We just tweak it out until we're satisfied, then find a master for the production.

OK red face time.  :-[

I put a few hours work in today and stuck up a link on soundcloud to see what folk thought.

The only problem was....

I somehow lifted the wrong lyrics and put solid work into melding Bin's track with Pauls Drinking song lyrics...what a dumbass  :D

Sorry for the mess up folks.  ::)

Sadly these days my vocalising opportunities are few,so it may be next week before I've another chance.

Skub, thanks for taking the time out of your busy life to get something down. I'm not sure how the others were hearing it, but I was hearing it at a brisker pace, like a peppy dance tune, roughly 2x faster than the uploaded recording. Below is the most recent version of the lyrics we've agreed on. If you feel anything in there needs changing just give us a shout and we'll hammer it out for you. I do like the feel behind your vocals in your melody. The idea was to start the song slow like it was going to be a sad country tune, then pick up the pace for the party.

This would be how I would sequence this and cut back some of the lines.  Didn't add much.  Didn't feel it needed much added.

Hi Jenna.

I understood Bin's track was the one to be used, but a slow start and then twice as fast will mean the whole track needs redone from scratch. Best to ask Bin if he has time to do that, unfortunately at the moment I don't.
Title: Re: Let's write a party hit! Group collaboration project?
Post by: Binladeda on July 20, 2017, 01:51:38 PM

 Hi Guys,

No way ;D ;D ;D  It took me an age to get the timing right on this.
It is what it is guys.....It'll be a lot easier changing the lyrics to suit
the melody/music than the other way round.  If we were in the studio,
recording a live track, then it would be just nods and winks, but an online
collab, where communication is always an 'issue', and with a full blown
production like this....it's a can of worms ;D  Maybe you need a piano
player/accoustic guitar player. Where it's just one instrument and a beat.
Then what you're proposing would be easier to achieve.  But changing the
tempo half way through something like this, you're risking too much......
for me anyway.  I'm not saying it can't be done, just that I'm not prepared,
 or want to do it.

For what it's worth.  I think the best way to proceed from here, is to let the
vocalists sort out the melody.  After all it's them who are going to sing it, and
they need to be comfortable with it.  Then, they can 'cherry pick' the lyrics to
fit their melody.  After that, you can fine tune the lyrics......if needed.  I'm
hoping that Paul is going to try some piano on this as well, and Skub is also
more than likely going to have a jam along with it.  So let the vocalists have
it, and see what we've got after they've worked their magic ;D

If everyone agrees with that, then I'll send the stems to Paulski and Skub,
If not, then I'll send the stems, to whoever you want.....

 Hope I haven't upset any ego's, Canadians, Irishmen, or Americans  ;D ;D
 quite a little gathering ;D ;D
 Love ya all  ;D

Hey Guys

Ill have a go as adding some vocals later, had a few listens to what been recorded so far and im thinking maybe adding rockabilly hillbilly's style dont really know yet how its going to sound but should have time later on to find out, in the mean time Jenna what chorus are we trying tbh im still thinking the The Prince of Wales verse.

Will try out a few ways just to see where it fits, might even go straight in with it at the start.

https://soundcloud.com/paulcanuck/fools-paridise-chorus-wannabee/s-QbtZl

I must confess, the verse lyrics at their current stage are a little under-whelming to me - sorry.

They don't have good prosody and they seem written to be clever rather than tell a story of why this guy ended up at the FP club.

Anyway - is this the type of chorus that will work - or am I sucking lemons?
Or have I just pissed all the lyricists off and I should bugger off?

I like it Paul. I also think the Cannuckistanian accent is more in keeping with the song topic than my boghopping tonez!
I agree with you on the lyrical front. To have any chance of making a song work the words will need to be brutally trimmed and simplified. Like Paul,I also would be keen to avoid stepping on toes,so we need opinions.

Paul

I like it, Paulski. Sounds great. The intent of the lyrics was to tell a story using the names of alcoholic beverages. That's all. I put a lot of time into it, but if it's not going to work it's not going to work. What sort of story would you all like to tell about how this man ended up at a bar named Fool's Paradise? The origin of this whole project was in the first verse:

I'm picking up a new old habit and chilling it on ice.
Spinning vinyl memories in this Fool's Paradise.

Does the chorus as written not have good prosody? "Rumor has it you've moved on and left our love behind, but I'm out dancing every night with every woman I can find."

I am still attached to that verse and the chorus (rumor has it you've moved on and left our love behind, but I'm still dancing every night with every woman I can find), but the rest isn't necessary if you all would like to change it. I'm good with that. Just let me know what story line you'd like to follow and we'll get to work on the lyrics. Sound good? Now I'll just add a couple of obvious thoughts on developing the storyline for possibilities:

We're starting out with a verse leading to a breakup, which was supposed to be the sad, slow beginning, but that's been tossed.

We're up-tempo for a dance number, so this is going to be a positive spin on a breakup song.

My upcoming 3-week commitment fell through, so now I'm free again for the next 3 weeks to toy with this song, or any other.

If you want female vocals I can give it a shot. I have a good range and usually can hit the right notes. Harmonies don't come as easily as they used to, but I need to work on those and it would be good practice.

Let me see what I can come up with for a positive breakup storyline. What would you all think of the subject going into fun times naming different women?

So this is a chorus idea I had based on bin's track:

https://soundcloud.com/paulcanuck/fools-paridise-chorus-wannabee/s-QbtZl

I must confess, the verse lyrics at their current stage are a little under-whelming to me - sorry.

They don't have good prosody and they seem written to be clever rather than tell a story of why this guy ended up at the FP club.

Anyway - is this the type of chorus that will work - or am I sucking lemons?
Or have I just pissed all the lyricists off and I should bugger off?

Okay now we got the flow on this one, to get you in there Jenna i think we're going need a cool bass line, just to get you walking in then you hit us with something like or whatever.

I don't need you any more
To have a good time
I'm still dancing every night
with every man i can find

Then we put everything we have and more to come together and just let rock  8)

Oops. I forgot we reworded that chorus. Thanks for the reminder. So Mr. Country Dude sings the intro verse and Mrs. Country Gal sings the chorus? Or does she enhance it with a 3rd above? Not sure of your meaning up there.

All we're doing is trying different ways but i have to say, Mr Country Dude & Mrs Country Gal is miles of the thoughts im having, its just a bit of fun trying to put a song together and verses are going to have to be edited to fit the track, record what way you think the whole lot or parts, sorry but the part i included above is no Mrs Country Gal, she's a rocker, okay she's a Country rocker  :)

Just my thoughts on this, dont come at me with that chainsaw okay   ;D

No worries. It looks like I'm being asked to take a chainsaw to the lyrics. It's rather occupied at the moment.

Jenna, with collabs there is a certain amount of letting go of preconceived ideas that goes with the territory. Personally I love that unexpected evolution which occurs when others join in. It's a roller coaster ride, especially when there are as many taking part as in this example. I understand it can be hard to give up a line/lick/lead break/melody,but sometimes magic happens when you do.

If there is an original idea or direction you had for the song and this version diverges from that format, don't worry, just keep that to yourself and make another version. No one here will be staking claims.  :)

Go with the flow and see what happens,if you don't like it much, there is always plan B.

Okay Jenna as Paul rightly says "We may end up with three songs here" but on this one we need to edit according to the flow which i know you dont have a problem with (im thinking chainsaw again)   ;D  sorry.

I like the idea of a bar call Fool's Paradise, i think we all sat in a few of them and i have to admit great singalong at the end of those nights, so far we got about a minute and half of vocals and on the next part and again just my thoughts on this, but im thinking Paul coming in on piano Skub playing that lead guitar of his and whoever else wants to add their favourite instrument, then we'll sort what verses you have that feels right with the flow for vocals, and for crying out loud woman put that chainsaw away  ;D   ;D

No worries. I am a go-with-the-flow sort of being. I was justing putting in my two cents. Those are the parts of the lyrics I like best, but this is a group collaboration and I'm only one of those collaborators along for the ride. I'm also a fan of a bar named Fool's Paradise and would like this to be one of those popular bar tunes or closing time singalongs. Whatever it takes to get there is okay by me. Having said that, and with the limited closing times I've attended in my life, about the only sad last call tune I can remember is Desparado by the Eagles. The best thing is for people to leave on a high note, and if we can make something that makes people want to stay until closing time the bar owners will love it. Selling to the establishments that will be playing might be a good angle to take.

Has anyone noticed how incredibly popular this thread is? Over 1000 view hits? Interesting.

OK so re-reading my last comment I think it was kind of rude  :(
I should have also said what I like about this project!

Great hook!
I like the idea of a slow start then bin's track starts up - I can take a run at that plus some tickled ivories
Bin's track is really good  ;D
Skub and Pat both did great work on their samples!
I like the idea of using drink names in the verses - but maybe they could be like "dates" this guy goes out on? Like one night he meets "Pink Lady" etc. Maybe even he's dancing every night with every new drink he can find  ;D ;D

bin has shared his stem files (tracks) so we'll see where it goes from there  ;D ;D

GMTA? We must be reading each others' minds on the drink name dates. If we do stick with that theme, I like going that direction as well. He could be looking through his little black book of names that sound like women but turn out to be drinks or something along those lines. But who is he breaking up with and what memories comes up in the process? Unless we nuke the opening verse or turn it into a chorus, we'll have to answer those questions as the story develops.

And for a real twist, what would you think of making the speaker a woman instead of a man? It seems to be a trend lately, showing the stronger side of women and putting them in fictional roles traditionally reserved for men, especially in the US country genre.

Witness:

https://www.popsugar.com/love/Strong-Female-Country-Songs-34922044
 (http://Strong Female Country Songs)

I can't believe they left out Gretchen Wilson's "I'm Here for the Party."

Another popular trend in country in recent days is females and guns. It's kind of strange for me being raised in a different generation but it's current.

And the Dixie Chicks are on the rise again. Love them!

But having a hard-headed, hard-drinking woman with a little black book of drink dates might be something special. I've not heard any of these since Gretchen's I'm Here for the Party.

IN which case you'll need a female on vocals. My range is kind of like that of Miley Cyrus. Here's me attempting her song Wrecking Ball fx free. My voice starts giving out about 2/3 of the way through. It's a hard one to sing. Wrecking Ball. (https://soundcloud.com/lollypop-guild/wrecking-ball-a-capella/s-H5KiH) Definitely not a pro, but maybe passable in a pinch.

Sin Wagon by the Dixie Chicks (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQlHpT_-IV4)

Since Bin's track sounds so close to this we should probably veer off in another direction.

Using Paul's and my vocals and just repeating lyrics,I've attempted to give the song some shape,a template to work from. Maybe it'll help to show what amount of lyrics we need? Piano and solo stuff can be added later, but if we have a song template, then it's a datum point.

Lemme know what you think.

Love it. Sounds fantastic. I really like what you all have done with it.

Can I get a copy to play on a loop? It might help me work out some more lyrics.

Bin doesn't have the chords. I was hoping to get those earlier in this journey.

In only posted the link of me singing Wrecking Ball as a sample in case we changed direction and made this a female speaker. There aren't many cocktails with the names of women, so it's going to be tricky trying to write more verses using the three or four I can find.

The song is in A major,Jenna. Three chord trick A,D and E.  :)

You can download the current version from soundcloud,if that's a help chasing lyrics.

There is definitely a place in this song for your narration style vocals Pat,please don't think I've been blanking you,I'm just looking for the right place. It may be a part at the start, put in before the kick off..a break in the high diddle diddle,or at the end. We'll know when it happens,so keep your powder dry dude.  :)

Think the chorus needs to come in earlier - as they say don't bore us get to the chorus!

Paul

Not unless someone else writes the lyrics. They just aren't coming for me at the moment. Having the chords might help a lot. Now I can play it on the guitar and toy around with it. I like your sketchy vocals. They're raw and rough and have a character all their own. It always seems the unique-sounding vocals are the most interesting to listen to.

I'm playing with some fingerstyle arpeggios for the first two verses before picking up the pace and trying to start it off with a minor sound before the big switch. What's a good chord progression for transitioning from this minor tone to the A major key for the rest?

Here we go. My latest stab at some more lyrics. I've changed the gender of the speaker because it made it easier to develop the storyline using the names of cocktails. That doesn't mean it has to stay this way. Let me know what you think. Please edit/add/subtract where you hear something better.

Intro verse slow:

V1
I'm picking up a new old habit
And chilling it on ice
Laying to rest our memories
At a bar named Fool's Paradise.

Prechorus 1
Since you've gone I have been
Half-baked out of my mind
Filling up your vacancy with
Every man that I can find.

Chorus 1
Can I get a witness?
We're raising holy hell in Fool's Paradise.
Can I get  witness?
It's liquid love we evangelize
Can I get a witness?
My memory of you's getting euthanized
Can I get a witness?
Jose Cuervo's gets to eulagize

V3
Here in paradise Johnny Walker sits down
And tells Jim Beam it's time to party down.
Then we let out a Rebel Yell
So loud it echoes round Heaven Hill

Prechorus 2
Well I don't need you anymore
To have a good time
I'm out dancing every night
With every man that I can find

Chorus 2
Can I get a witness?
We raise holy hell in Fool's Paradise.
Can I get a witness?
It's liquid love we evangelize.
Can I get a witness?
All memory of you's getting euthanized
Can I get a witness?
Jose Cuervo's going to eulagize.

V4
Jack Daniels warms over and
pinches my seat. Wants to
go for a ride along Easy Street

V5
Jose Cuervo brings a salty treat
After which we hit the floor
To shuffle our feet.

C2
Well I don't need you anymore
To have a good time
I'm out dancing every night
With every man that I can find.

I hear you about getting to the chorus sooner. Does that still apply if we're changing the starting tempo and then kicking it up at the third verse?

And a rough stab at a slower intro. Likely too far off from the current sound for a good blend, though. Not married to it, so . . .

Slow intro sample. (https://soundcloud.com/lollypop-guild/arpeggiated-intro-with-female)

 Hey guys,

Don't know how far you've got with this, but if you're
still looking for a backing track.  I've got this that might
 suit.

 https://soundcloud.com/binladeda/spin-the-bottle/s-8U5TP

It still needs a lot of work, but I think it's ready for some
lyrics/vocals. Let me know if you want it. ;D

Seeing as how we've settled on this as the backbone of the piece, how much alteration is possible at this stage of the game? Was this a jam session with your band at some point in the past? I'm curious because I'm trying to stick to regularly timed patterns for the verses and the rest, which makes it easier to build the musical parts, and I'm having a really difficult time fitting everything to the music, like it's jumping around a bit.

I've got the first part of it tabbed out like this:

A A A A
D A E A
A A D A
E A E A
D A E A ?

I've not got it in me at the moment to tab out the rest. It needs some repetition between the sections and I'm not sure it's there at the moment.

There are 3 distinct parts Jenna.
When the drums kick in and I start singing,'I'm picking up',it's slightly different to the other verses and it doesn't repeat,so if you leave that as it is,the next part will be of more use to you.

If you make your verse lyrics fit the 'Since you left,I've been'...part,which is also the same as the 'doobee doobee' part, which is also the same as the part Paul used for the chorus. All the same chord pattern.  :)

'In Paradise Jonny Walker', is different again and it repeats,it's kind of a pre chorus.

One thing we are going to have to watch is the song duration. As it sits, with the new intro we are at 4.20,so if we can work with what we have,or less that would be ideal to stop the plot dragging it's arse.  :)

 Hey  guys,  ;D ;D

I see the party is picking up the pace, now the two front men
 have the stems ;D ;D

Love the latest demo. I'm going to attempt a bit of slide for
the solo section. I like the guitar that Skub has put there, but
if I was to be brutally honest ;D  I think it starts better than it
ends ;D  it would be nice to have guitar/slide/piano options
 to choose from there anyway.....maybe ::) ::)

Wise words from Skub regarding the length.  It's already on it's
limit, if not too long. But, it ain't misbehaving yet ;D Still keeps
attention....my arse was not dragged ;D But we should be looking
at losing some time....not adding any ;D

Just my thoughts guys...it's all subjective, and it's all good ;D ;D

I doff my musical hat to you all (deep bow of gratitude)  ;D

Okay guys sounds nice but too nice too sweety, Davy can you just record this with lead guitar only so we can hear that flowing ROCK sound, let your fingers flow slide whatever, Paul can you do the same with piano and Bin, im no good with this musician language but can you post the chords, i got an idea  ???

There is definitely a place in this song for your narration style vocals Pat,please don't think I've been blanking you,I'm just looking for the right place. It may be a part at the start, put in before the kick off..a break in the high diddle diddle,or at the end. We'll know when it happens,so keep your powder dry dude.  :)

Hey Davy

I'm sorry i made you think you been blinking me out, believe me not the case at all, i guess what i was trying to say in my humorous way is that the lyrics has change from the first post of lyrics that Jenna posted, i could explain but honestly i don't want to cause any problems, if i can help out with vocals i be delighted, peace  :)

That helps, and I like your intro far better than mine anyway. It may be next week before I can focus on this again, though.

If you want to remake the gender from the latest lyrics, just substitute Pink Lady, Shirley Temple and/or Ruby Duchess with the Jose Cuervo and Jack Daniels. Another thought, if we're going to stick with one gender throughout, does the In Paradise, Johnny Walker verse need changing as well?

On the length, I absolutely agree. It's already long. In the latest iteration the "can I get a witness" are backup vocals like a church chorus to be layered and slightly overlapping the lines of the chorus. This new version is how things changed when I gave a go at fixing things. I don't yet see it matching up with the music unless the pace that it's sung is quite a bit faster. I tried recording a demo of it this way last night but things weren't falling into place and I had to give it a rest.

As stated before, I may not be able to get back to this until next week. In the meantime, I'm not offended with any changes to the lyrics made by others.

Correct. Trying to get a better flow and matchup with the music for the vocalist while developing a storyline at the same time. It's very much in flux. I was under the impression the group was not happy with the original, and to be honest I wasn't planning that to be the final version. The idea was to let it evolve as we went along. Is that okay? I think it would be impossible to hit it right with the first go around, especially for someone as green as myself. ;) I was also hoping for more feedback on the lyrics, as in collaboration/editing/etc. I have no toes left, so no worries about stepping on them. Chainsaw accident.  :D

Does anyone have a full-length tab/score/sketch worked out for the music track? Knowing the number of measures to each section and the chord progressions of them would be really helpful. I've never written lyrics to fit music before and thought it was typically done the other way around so the music supported the lyrics. I'm just a little wet behind the ears it seems.

Dinnae fash yersel kid! (Don't worry,in plain speak  :D)

As the song currently sits Jenna, all we need lyric wise is lyrics for the passage from 2.49 to 3.27. I just have the previous lyrics repeating there at the moment, but aside from other tweaks you wish to make, that's all we need.  :)

Hey all - my what interest there seems to be in this thread  ;D

Jenna - I like your latest stab at the lyrics BUT they don't fit bin's backing track. At least I can't make them fit  :( So if we use them we're going to need another backdrop!

Having said that, and at the risk of p*ssing you off  ;D I took a hacksaw to them and came up with what I think will fit the track. Subject to approval by the crowd and your good self of course:

Fool's Paradise

Intro verse slow (maybe spoken by the Pat-ster):

I've gone back to my old habits
Since you put my heart on ice
I'm filling up the hole you left
With some good old friends of mine...

{vs 1}
Well I got this half-baked feeling
And my brain is getting fried
The party's overheating
At the "Fool's Paradise"

{dunna bore us get to the chorus.. ;D}
I'll be dancing through the night
With every spirit I can find
At the Fool's Paradise

Johnny Walker - takes a seat
"Party On!" He says to me
From Jimmy Beam - comes a Rebel Yell
So loud it echoes round Heaven Hill
Jackie Daniels takes the stage
He grabs a mic and starts to sing

I'll be dancing through the night
With every spirit I can find
At the Fool's Paradise

I know this party's gonna end
I'll get abandoned by my friends
We can patch it up, but until then
That old hole needs fillin' again..

So I'll be dancing through the night
With every spirit I can find
At the Fool's Paradise
At the Fool's Paradise

Yes! I really like what you've done with them. That was my problem too, unable to fit them to the track. The second stab was a big improvement on the original idea. What are the chances we can try the second revision with another musical backing? I may work on that on the side here and there just for fun to see what I can do with it.

But for this track, I bow in the presence of greatness. Where's the prostrating emoji when you need it? I found it a real challenge to construct a song that would fit the pattern of the backing track. The chorus seems a little short, and maybe that's what had me stumped. All I know is that it was late and things weren't coming together for some inexplicable reason until I started counting the measures and chord changes. In either case, it was a good experience for training the ear.

And the intro? Bam! Nailed. I also love the end after the outro saying the party will end. The music stops. Pat comes in with his favorite lines in conversational form. I think we've got it together now. Great stuff, guys. I look forward to hearing it all put together when the time comes.

Very happy with the outcome so far.  ;D

A few questions.  :)

The last revision of the lyrics by Paul,is everyone happy with that?

Paul, are you putting down any piano, either in the shape of a solo,or in the song in general?

Bin,are you putting down slide,or any other guitar?

What are folk's preference for the ending, the shortened version now up,or the longer version?

As Paul says, the track needs a haircut,so choices need to be made before I weird the axe. Not everything can be used, lest we be past the 5 minute mark.

Paul would like the chorus in early, everyone down with that?

Talk amongst yourselves quietly please,no shouting or arguing.  :P

It'll probably be Wednesday before I can get any vocals changed

I'd rather we settle on a final arrangement before I make a piano track but happy to add one.
As far as the haircut I think the doo-wee doobee part could maybe go - sorry - I like it but it just doesn't seem like a "rebel yell" to me  ;D ;D

You don't want a space left specifically for a piano solo then, you prefer fills here and there?

Yeah, the doobees I only stuck in there whilst trying to give it some shape and marking where a verse/solo/chorus might be. Do you want them out of the whole song Paul? I agree with you and Pat,they are a bit sugary for this track. Currently, they are behind part of the chorus too.

Hmmm piano solos are fun, but pretty scarce in country these days - maybe just frills etc. I don't have an opinion on the ddooo bees behind the chorus - maybe someone else does...

Okay guys not to sure about the intro im just going with the flow here, but after Paul piece we need Jenna to come in with something like "hey boys"  then the music goes low high heels sound walking across a dance floor and then she hit us with her chorus, maybe.

I don't need you any more
To have a good time
I'm still dancing every night
With every man I can find.

I had a bit of unexpected free time today,so new lyrics recorded on verses and pre chorus.

Paul,if ya wanna do your parts sometime, stick it in dropbox and let me know.  Feel free to add harmonies too or whatever comes to mind. :)

Just thoughts but i think we need a kick ass moment in the song  8)

The song length currently sits at a trimmed 3.35,Pat. If we wish to add any new parts, then existing sections will need to be culled to make room. There are always going to be ideas.

This is part of the difficulty with songs, the process could in theory run forever and yield many slightly different versions of the same song, but sooner, rather than later an agreed on decision will need to be made.

See what folk think.  :)

Edit....just to mention also there are over 30 tracks in the song so far,so it'll be a mammoth mixing job when it comes to the final cut.

Hey Davy

Sorry i didn't get back to you earlier im on holidays at the moment, no work in the morning so just having a relaxing night, chilling out with a few beers and yes a glass of my favoured, no cocktails eh., anyway, as one songwriter to another we are not going to fall out over lyrics or whatever im just going to go with the flow again, take it or leave it that's just the way i am, okay first.

"The song length currently sits at a trimmed 3.35,Pat. If we wish to add any new parts, then existing sections will need to be culled to make room. There are always going to be ideas"

I'm not talking about adding im talking about including, okay second part.

"This is part of the difficulty with songs, the process could in theory run forever and yield many slightly different versions of the same song, but sooner, rather than later an agreed on decision will need to be made"

I been writing lyrics and co writing songs for a long time i could tell you more but this is a public forum, now to your last bit.

"Edit....just to mention also there are over 30 tracks in the song so far,so it'll be a mammoth mixing job when it comes to the final cut"

Believe me i well believe that. and most of those 30 tracks was because of rewriting lyrics in other words rewriting a song, you three guys has got a track of flow now just edit the first post of lyrics and if you all want to edit time, just leave me out, im on holidays.

But one thing i will say (going with the flow again) is that no one can rewrite great imagery of lyrics that was first posted on this thread, as i said just my thoughts on this but hey y'all, does this mean i don't get my own limousine  ;D   ;D

Just my thoughts Davy hope you understand Mate, as i said just chilling it out on holidays on a one of late night  8)

To help spread the load I would be very happy to do the final mix and master of the track as my contribution to this wonderful collab

I am on my holiday at the moment but if SKUB is happy to continue collating the tracks and get them organised I would be happy to do the final mixing and mastering when everyone is happy with the final version

Yo Pat,all points taken.  :)  With any collab there must be compromise and I understand for some this has perhaps gone too far from the original intent. The good news is that something unexpected was created, but also there is still the freedom to pursue that original vision and make another version.
We've all got on well with each other, despite the crafting of a song being an area where even mild mannered folk can become excitable! The whole thread and project serves to remind us what a great bunch of people we have here on this forum. I'm happy and proud to be a part.

Mucho grassy ass to Boydie for stepping forward on the final mix,or did the whole forum step back and set him up?  :D

Just listened to the final version. I like it. I do think there could be edits made to give it more punch to drive home the joy, but I also think it sounds great as it is except maybe the outro. It seems a little out-of-place at the stage. We have come really far from the original idea and that's okay. The original lyrics were just ideas and they didn't work out all that well for writing music to match.

This was a good experience. I've never collaborated openly like this or with so many people. Giving up so much of the lyrical expression was a surprise, but I didn't know then what I know now about writing lyrics to set to music. I'll chalk it up to education and maybe work on another version with the other bits and pieces that fell by the wayside.

Thanks, Boydie, for stepping up for the final mix. I look forward to hearing the results.

Yes totally agree Jenna the outro doesn't fit the flow of the song, it shouldn't be there.

One of the great things about this group collaboration is we stay with it regardless of whatever and we stay with it on this public side of the forum (i think that's a first) we're on the home straight here and hopefully after this there's be more group collaborations to come on this side of the public forum and this one Jenna, was all started with your first post   8)

And now for something completely different, i try out the wetsuit guys, the zip is on the other side couldn't pull the damn thing up i nearly fecking drown, never drank so much in all my life, im still spitting out salt, anyway   ;D

Looking forward to the end of a really fun journey guys, the song that is   ;D   ;D   8)

Greeting gentlefolk and Bin.   :P

Paul added some revised vocals and we split singing duties between the pair of us.

I know Jenna and Pat are cool on the outro idea, but I really wanted to get Pat in there,so the jury is still out on that one.  :-\

Bin,have you any slide or anything else to finish us off?

Have a listen to the update, everyone and post thoughts.  :)

Love the intro. The ice tinkling in the glass is a nice touch. Somebody here is great with those fun little extras! There's a Garth Brooks pitch opp open at the moment until August 15. If we can finish it up before then I can submit it and see what happens. I believe that there are several other artists who might be a good fit for this one. I don't hear it as commercially viable at this stage, but it doesn't hurt to try. You never know what can happen. Maybe we'll have a stroke of luck and get a cut. Other artists available for pitches include:

Jason Aldean
Alan Jackson
Hank Williams, Jr.
Lynrd Skynrd
Tyler Rich
Morgan Wallen

I know this is up-tempo, but is it positive or negative? It's sort of a negative spun into a positive, so how does that qualify in the end? Many are asking for positive lyrics only.

Sounds pretty good for a rough mix.  ;D
I would suggest "less is more" on the backing track in the final mix.
Right now there's a lot of competing tracks.
I think there is a prosody issue where I sing "party's over-heating" and skub sings "we'll patch it up...until then". I'll see if I can reword the lyrics in those spots.

It's sure catchy - I'm trying to learn another song and this one keeps interrupting ;D

I agree Paul, the song is way overloaded and Bin wants some slide in there too... :o   :D I'm leaving it to Boydie to wield the editing axe and take the blame credit.  :D

Could be prosody,or could be creative phrasing on the vocals!  ;D

Paul may want to fix a bit of his vocal he's not 100% happy with, joking aside it works for me,but may as well do it now rather than leave it too late.

Which brings us to what may possibly be the final rough mix before we let Boydie at it.  :)

Folk didn't think the ending suited the song, but it was all part of the journey. Sorry Pat.  :(

Hey hey,

Wasn't convinced on the earlier versions if I'm being honest, but it's sounding real good now.

Overall volume  is low, even when max feel like I'm missing out on hearing it properly - something Boydie will sort out I'm sure.

Shows what a good bit of work and collaboration can produce, looking forward to hearing the mastered one!

Well done to all involved, awesome to aee a multi-collab like this on the forum, hope it worked well enough logistically to encourage more.

I haven't read this read in full so it might all be here, but would be cool to get some feedback on the process of working remotely in a group; like what was most difficult, any tools which you'd recommend, ect.

All the best,
Scott

Hey Scott.

The pre mix and pre master volume is purposely low to allow final fine adjustments.

You ought to be able to hear the track loud enough as it stands,by turning up your monitor volume, but certainly not flat out.

Haha you're right, still had my work-hat on (late one) where everything has to be a bloody projects worth - this is play time!

And that's cool info about the low volume pre mastering, makes sence. Think it's my listening means that's mostly to blame on the volume too

Yeah, keep the volume low when recording. Boydies number one tip and it is SO right. Can all be sorted out in the mastering process

Confirming "Fool's Paradise" is the official name of the song. This turned out so good! You all did an incredible job pulling this off. Kudos to everyone involved!

I left more comments on the thread in the Finished Songs forum and can submit this for placement in movies and TV programs when I get an MP3 copy of the song. I think I have found the final version of the lyrics, is this correct?

Intro x 2

I've gone back to my old habits
Since you put my heart on ice
I'm filling up the hole you left
With some good old friends of mine...

{vs 1}
Well I got this half-baked feeling
And my brain is getting fried
The party's overheating
At the "Fool's Paradise"

Chorus x2?
I'll be dancing through the night
With every spirit I can find
At the Fool's Paradise

Guitar solo

V2
I know this party's gonna end
I'll get abandoned by my friends
We can patch it up, but until then
That old hole needs fillin' again..

Bridge
Johnny Walker - takes a seat
"Party On!" He says to me
From Jimmy Beam - comes a Rebel Yell
So loud it echoes round Heaven Hill
Jackie Daniels takes the stage
He grabs a mic and starts to sing

Chorus
So I'll be dancing through the night
With every spirit I can find
At the Fool's Paradise
At the Fool's Paradise

Boydie, would you be so kind as to send me an MP3 version? I can only download a .wav from Soundcloud and the website where I make submissions requires radio-ready MP3 copies.

Thank you, Jackdaw.

I've put this out there to two publishers, two TV/film opportunities and two independent artists. I'll let you all know when I hear back.

Unfortunately, I only have two collaborators listed in the credits. I'd like to add everyone who participated. If you're interested in having your name and contribution in the credits, please pm me your info so I can add you ASAP.
