Title: October SOTM
Post by: delb0y on November 03, 2016, 08:10:22 AM
Okay all you musical scribes, it's time to put on your dancing shoes and your critical ears and get your scoring cards out. I know you're all busy voting on spooky zombified ghostly songs over in the Halloween competition, but elsewhere we have a stunning selection of songs that feature nary a drop of blood or a curdled scream amongst them.

I've taken an executive decision not to include any songs from the aforementioned competition in the October SOTM list (based mainly on the discussions and decisions that took place back in February when we had the Valentines comp and a SOTM comp running). I've also adhered to the 100 post rule - we have a lot of new members recently and in a month or two they'll be giving some of you old-timers a very good SOTM run for your money. So keep an eye on your rear view mirrors.

I couldn't nary it down to less than six. That was hard enough. But here they are, in no particular order. Please PM me your top three by November 24th.

Anyway You Feel - Shadowfax:

Everybody Wants - IronKnee:

Now get and vote. If you don't you know that Trump or Clinton might win!

Derek

What a fantastic selection of songs...

Even more amazing when you consider how much time and effort has been taken up by the halloweeen competition... and the standards in that are amazing too

The forum is on fire  :)

 Much pondering required...

Was expecting Twice the Man by Yodasdad to be on this list!

It was on my shortlist, Jack. Tied with a couple of others on my self-created points system, but after repeated listens I went with those listed.

Quick Bump!!

Lots going on, what with the spooky voting and burning effigies of Guy Fawkes and checking the heating is working and all that.

Thanks to all those who have voted so far. There plenty of time left for the rest of you - but vote early and have the rest of the month off.

;D  You know your fellow songsmiths deserve it!

Bump (in the night)...voted. Very difficult to choose...I feel sorry for the ones who didn't make my top 3 because there some good quality this month.

BIG BUMP

Plenty of time left to vote - a deliberate ploy on my part to let you do your Spooky Thing and then turn and concentrate on the SOTM. Nevertheless, I will continue to hassle and remind and cajole and urge you to vote.

Thanks to everyone who has voted so far, but considering the number of active members the response has been a tad   ludicrously low.

Cheers

Good on you, Derek...I wish SOTM could get more votes...I find it a little sad that quite a few folks just drop a song in, whack off a couple of random reviews and then disappear until they have another song to post...hey ho...such is life

sorry to go off on one a bit  :)

The same for all the comps. The Halloween comp only has 11 votes according to Vicki. Come on all you new guys, get listening and voting. You may enjoy yourselves  ;D

That's shocking. When I hosted SOTM there were 12 votes which is crap considering the number of active members

On a more positive note, and this is aimed at those who tend to pop in, post and go away for a while, your songwriting will improve an enormous amount by listening to the others on here. There is some real talent floating around, some great ideas to learn from and some fantastic support to gain. So get voting.

Right everyone, you're done and dusted with the scary stuff. Now there's no excuse not to come on over and support your fellow forum folks, and vote for the minstrel who's music most moved you last month. Get to it! It's like wetting yourself whilst wearing dark trousers - no-one will notice but it'll give you a warm feeling! Get to it, I say.

Of course, thanks to those who have voted so far. Have yourself a couple of days off this weekend!
