Firstly - thanks to everyone for voting (and participating for that matter  ;D ;D)
OK - the hosts have done the math - 50 ways to Sunday - so there would be no mistake!
A total of 20 people voted  ;D ;D
And here are the results of the votes.

Congrats to digger for taking top spot (by a wide margin I might add  ;D)

Contest Rules:

I am somewhat more than marginally pleased to announce a NEW CONTEST hosted by the wonderfully charming CaliaMoko (Vicki) and yours truly.
This one is called the "SPOOKY or WHAT?" contest and all entries must be posted by end of day Oct 31st, 2016.
Hey wait!! That's hallowe'en isn't it??? What a coincidence!!!

Here are the "rules":

1. You must have at least 100 posts to enter.
2. You must have a pulse.
3. To be eligible to win you must vote when it comes time to vote!

Here are the "guidelines":

- should be an original song never posted on this forum before (OK to have posted the lyrics before)
- should be in keeping with the contest theme - (open to artistic interpretation)
- maximum of one solo entry and one collab entry per entrant
- post entries in finished song section

How to enter:

1. Write an awesome song!
2. Record it!
3. Post it in the Finished Songs Section of this forum like this: "YOUR SONG TITLE - SPOOKY or WHAT contest"

You can use this thread, or the collab section to find a collaborator.

Questions? Just post them here or through PM to Vicki or myself.

Good luck everyone - Vicki and I are looking forward to hearing your song!

oh good ...I was worried this had fallen flat...im definitely in
you should all have a go ….songwriting doesnt always have to be serious & this is chance to have  a bit of fun & be silly ...or you can be realy scarily serious & terrify us all..
monster mash & the munsters & frankenstein & dracula... im going to have them all in my song ;D

Yes - we have laboured for hours over the issue and decided that everyone is allowed one collab and one solo entry OR two collab entries :)

Darn it all, my dark, Halloween songs, tend towards the Stephen King side of things rather than the MR James. Plenty of bodies, nut nary a ghost. Perhaps I should pen a tune about my experience in the London Road, Coventry graveyard last year... ooooooooooeeeeeeeeee  :o

Having trouble getting inspiration? Need a kick start? Here are some ideas:

1. Ask your mom to tell you her scariest Halloween story from her childhood days
2. Ask a kid to give you a song title with a scary word in it
3. Relive a prank from your wilder days
4. Read an Edgar Allan Poe story
5. Do a web search for scary halloween story ideas ("scary halloween ideas for tales" works)

Worried about getting it done in time? You have more than three weeks, as I'm writing this. Here's a possible schedule for you:
Spend one day getting your inspiration.
Spend one week drafting the words and melody
Spend one week recording
Spend one week tweaking, mixing, polishing...er...mastering

Voilá! Done with a day or two to spare.  ;D And if, like me, you don't know how to mix or master, you'll be done early!  :P

Unless I'm missing something, we've yet to see the first entry in this competition. Do we need a prize for an incentive? Let's see...how about this? If you are one of the first three entries in this challenge, I'll put one of your songs on one of my albums, after I get really famous???

And delb0y - it doesn't have to be spooky - that's what the "OR WHAT?" part means  ;D

BTW - if there is ONLY ONE ENTRY that entry will be certain to win!
If there are no entries then Vicki and I are going to flip a coin to see which one of us wins. :)

Okay, I have a problem. I have TWO ideas. Is anyone interested in checking them out to see if you want to collaborate on one of them? Otherwise, I have to choose one, and I really hate having to make decisions! In both cases I have lots of words and ideas for melodies, but I'm open to editing based on consultation. I don't need to feel like they are mine.  ;D  I'm not a possessive person.

I sit here, glued to my screen, waiting for entries in the SPOOKY OR WHAT challenge so I can add them to my master list. Minute after minute I sit, waiting...watching.... Maybe tomorrow.... ??

Wolfini - Night

I'm also working on one--maybe two. And I know pompeyjazz, igg, and paulski each have something in the works. So, not a lot of competition so far. This might the one to enter, right? The odds will be in your favor!

Brilliant competition and a great winning entry and top five. The standard had to be the best on the WEB.
