No-one talking about the new Bandlab/Cakewalk thing? Do they do experiments on animals or something?
-
What is it mate?

Quality (apparently) DAW - Cakewalk Sonar now free. Not all the same bundled software as the old paid version but a lot of stuff still.....and free.
I am already happy with my free one and not sure I want to learn something new right at this moment in time but could be persuaded to look at it maybe if anybody says that I can't afford not to.
Wondered if anybody uses it.

For me it's a non-event. I used Sonar for 10 years until Gibson ditched development at the tail end of last year. At that point I moved onto Studio One, and found it to be vastly superior and above all, rock solid. Also a surprisingly shallow learning curve.
I am delighted for Cakewalk Sonar devotees out there, but I wish I'd moved on years ago, there really are better choices.

Great. That's going to save me a lot of pain then!
Thanks Bill.

Ah cheers

I was also a lifelong Sonar user and evangelist
It is a VERY capable DAW and considering you can get what used be be a couple of hundred £££ it is still an amazing deal
I would still be happily using it today if Gibson hadn't managed it so badly
Like Bill I reluctantly jumped ship to STUDIO ONE and haven't looked back - especially with the hardware integration with the FADERPORT 8 and 16, which is absolutely seamless
