Boomerang
by: Matthew Hickman © 2014. Category: Break up | Genre: Pop

Verse 1:
It’s not the words you say to make me be ok
you always say that you’ll be back another day
But I never understand your possibilities

Something went wrong yesterday after 8,
why won’t you tell me before my heart breaks
I can see that the words wont flow out of your mouth

Pre-chorus 1:
I’m starting to understand why you’re so delirious,
you make me think that your so confused,
but all I want to know is the truth

Chorus 1:
I finally found the truth out the harder way,
why coul-dn’t you-- just ad-mit and say,
You really meant the world to me,
I know I would be, a boomerang.

Verse 2:
Now I know that you’re just a user,
You always make out that I’m the loser,
Just pay attention to these words, and you’ll know,
that you are the enemy.

Pre-chorus 2:
You always send nasty texts after you got what you want
Because you think that she’s the one
You think that I will stay, no-sir-ee
I got you now.

Chorus 2:
I finally found the truth out the harder way,
why coul-dn’t you-- just ad-mit and say,
You really meant the world to me,
I know I would be, a boomerang.

I finally found the truth out the harder way,
why coul-dn’t you-- just ad-mit and say,
You really meant the world to me,
I know I would be, a boomerang.

Instrumental break 16.5 secs

Pre-chorus-bridge 1:
You----- used to treat me like I’m it,
But I------have-----to-admit,
that you’re not the one

Oh ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hold until the first ‘why coul-dn’t you-- just ad-mit and say’,

Chorus 3:
I finally found the truth out the harder way,
why coul-dn’t you-- just ad-mit and say,
You really meant the world to me,
I know I would be, a boomerang-----------------------------
A boomerang------------------------

I think it would be interesting to hear how this might sound, as a lot of thought seems to have gone into the structure. I like the lyric about words that won't flow out of your mouth. I'd have liked to see more lyrics about the boomerang.

I'm glad that you liked it! - I am recording some tracks soon and hopefully this would be one of them. :)

I think this is good from a percussiveness standpoint and would fit quite nicely into an uptempo pop song. As far as improving it, as Bleedin Boy mentioned it would be nice to have more explanation as to why someone would be called a "boomerang". We know boomerangs are thrown away and come back but the song doesn't mention that happening to anyone - or maybe I missed it? But if it's pop, maybe it doesn't matter!
cheers
Paul

Thats pop for you. The song is meant to be about a breakup and then the he/she keeps coming back even though its a bad relationship, which empathises the title 'Boomerang'. :)
