Hi Paul......great sound, here! Love the whistle, and the singing is captivating. I really dig the haunting guitar.
Good song, man......good luck in the comp.  ;D
Good stuff!

Super tension between the guitar and the vocals and a very sharp, biting set of lyrics. Great playing and singing. The whistling could have been louder.

Melodically, a little lacking in variation and musically it was all the same throughout which can get a little wearing. If it's such a simple arrangement, I feel you need to ring the changes to maintain interest.

Good song though.

A quick "thank you" to you all...

Kevin, Ben, Adam, Helena, Monty, Tom, Digger, Lillypilly, Derek...cheers!

It is simplistic in its construction...bare bones, even  :P

It's a subject close to my heart and a story I really wanted to tell.

A simple arrangement and production such as this lets all the focus fall on the vocal and the lyrics leaving no-where to hide. They must be top notch or you will get found out. You nailed this. Lyrics where very engaging and the vocal performance stole the show.

Kudos and well done an a fantastic piece of song writing. A listen in this song for most of us.

Allan.

Excellent lyrics and complemented well by the guitar playing.

A great song for the bare bone comp.

Haunting and hanging.

I like this a lot. Well done

Good bare bones recording. Bold and clear. Love the 'distinguished / extinguished' rhyme. Perhaps I'm thick or is the lyric a little too vague even for a who-dun-it? The whistling fits beautifully but I'd like it just a little more prominent in the mix. Very haunting sound.

I like the song, but have to admit that I could not really follow the lyrics...? No matter, solid playing and interesting chords and melody. Nice.

Thanks everyone :)

The UK chemical and biological weapons expert Dr David Christopher Kelly CMG (most distinguished order of St Michael and St George...commonly referred to simply as "call me God") was found dead in the woods (as he had predicted) after being exposed as the source of a BBC report that called into question the UK Government dossier on Iraqi WMD.

Love the lyrics and the song goes very well with it. Agree with Montydog, that whistle could be a bit more upfront. Also, I can surely imagine this working very well in a rockier riff-based setting as well.

Paul,

Outstanding counterpoint of the slicing steel strings and your vocal delivery...cutting through the bullshit and the lies...  You have a knack for condensing outrage without withdrawing to an ironic distance....Your delivery is full of energy and challenge....Well done!

Hey Paul

Loved those minor ninths or whatever they were - haunting.
Super lyrics - spooky whistling - who needs synths when a human can make all these sounds...?
I love your vocals in thsi too.
Might have slowed that "flick of a switch line down for effect but that's a personal choice :)

Great entry - hard to top this one!
