Another day and another one fallen
plant a tree let it reach for the sky
Listen up mother nature’s callin’
No-one gets outta here alive
All I want is just a little more time
To wake up and I’m feeling just fine
It isn’t real, it’s only a dream
Something that happens to us in between
Only numbers, some politics speak
done and dusted they’ll never be beat
I don’t believe a word that they say
this is a price that no-one should pay
All I want is just a little more time
To wake up and I’m feeling just fine
It isn’t real, it’s only a dream
Something that happens to us in between
Someone you never know, you never can see
Always think it can’t happen to me
Somebody tells ya that a good friend has gone
That guy will never get to finish his song
All he wanted was a little more time
To wake up and he’s feeling just fine
It isn’t real, it’s only a dream
Something that happens to us in between
All I want is just a little more time
To wake up and I’m feeling just fine
It isn’t real, it’s only a dream
Something that happens to us in between
Something that happens...in between the lines

Hey man.....this is rockin'. Great energy. Awesome!!
Love the writing and performances.
Wow....has that 70's big band sound. As I'm listening, I want to say that this has a Crosby, Stills and Nash sound....but, that's not quite it. ???
Anyways..........terrific!!!

(Sorry for your loss.)
Solid rocker that moves along nicely. Some very nice guitar work and backing vocals work well to support the main vocal.
Nice job, I'm sure your friend would be proud,
Kevin

Hi, sorry to hear about your buddy. Has nice live feel to it, nicely produced. Great vocals, reminds me a touch of Steve Marriott.
Enjoyed it
Cheers

@kevysc (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19775) - Thanks very much - I hope my mate would have liked it. He was a drummer and it was definitely his style.
@Jamie (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19125) - Thanks for kind words - not the first time I've been compared to Steve Marriott - I can't hear it but it's perhaps not surprising as I grew up listening to him and I loved his voice.
@IronKnee (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20409) - Thanks very much - I started out in the early 70's (I'm old!!), so that's the sound I default to.

Sorry to hear about your loss, but as others have said you have done him proud here. Good writing and even better performing. My favourite part is the transition sound from the verses into the "all I want is a little more time". Cool guitar solo too.

Hi Chris - So sorry about the loss of your mate. I heard this on Soundcloud yesterday and thought it was really good. Got a great 70's rock vibe - Great rock vocals as well and the playing is very tight. Would be a great track to play live. Excellent production as well. Top work

Great stuff and a worthy tribute. Some Americana in the guitars but very has a very British bluesy sound at the same time. Bass and drums sounding really good too.
I very much like the lyrics - quite subtle and lots to dig into there.

Hi Chris, I read your lyrics before listening and found them very moving. I thought this would then lead on to listening to a slow ballad. I guess the musical treatment more captures the spirit of the musician friend you have sadly lost?
Great driving track and riffing in this, and a very relentless and catchy refrain. You can send this up the stairway to Heaven and I’m sure your buddy will love it 👍

Chris,
Nice to meet you.
Liking the tune, great live sounding recording, driving along with real energy.
Everything in its place providing the platform for the honest lyrics and vocals for your friend.
Rocking.

@Neil C (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18856) Good to meet you too (and the other guys) and thanks for kind words. I'd like to think it's the kind of song my mate would have enjoyed playing.
@MichaelA (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21274) I think it captures the style he enjoyed playing. That was my intention anyway. I appreciate your kind words.
@pompeyjazz (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20269) Thanks for the listen and for kind words. This is a great place to be - glad I found it. Talk again next week.
@The Holographic Rodeo (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=22741) Thanks very much for the encouragement. It wasn't an easy song to do in the circumstances but I'm happy wit it.

I can't think of a better way to memorialize a fallen musician than with a great rock song like this.

This is really great @ChrisPrice (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=22723) - love that chorus.. very hooky melody! I’ll be humming it the rest of the day...
Very well played and sung, great production. Love those BVs too...
Basically nothing to fault and what a great tribute to your mate
Sorry for your loss.
