Sorry DWG, I didn't realise I had made it so obscure but here's the lyrics, which should explain

The P Word

We got friends in high places
Our own channel on TV
We got police protection
By government decree
We'll fix it for you
Like we fixed it for me
So why not come and join us
On the PBBC

We got rapists and murderers
We put them on the news
Terrorists and burglars
And bush kangaroos
The world's gone bad
Leave it all behind
Do you wanna join our gang
Do you feel inclined

To me it's all a little seedy
Strictly not my cup of tea
But no one wants to spoil the party, so
Mum's the word on the PBBC

We turn a blind eye
No one will believe
It's our little secret
Don't be so naive
You're lucky to be here
Put your trust in me
Mix it with the stars
On the PBBC

bridge
Must I draw a picture
Shall I play you a song
Can you tell what it is yet
Be good and just play along

Like three brass monkeys
No evil to see
Protection for the guilty
Our own charity
A license for you
Is a license me
So get yourself a piece
Of the PBBC

chorus

You can't hide the truth
With a smile or a frown
So come on everybody
We're all going down

spoken: If you've been affected by the issues in this song, visit our website at PBBC.o r g
Why, you can't hide the truth
With a smile or a frown
Come on, come on
We're all going down

Bumped, due to today's news (UK) - nothing winds me up more than a cover up!

Great  :)

I looked at this before, and didn't comment because I wanted to look up the PBBC (which I presume means the Public British Broadcasting Company.

I forgot to look it up, then forgot to comment.  I love the lyric, but still haven't looked up PBBC.  I'm going to do so now.

Okay... I did a google search for "PBBC + England" and got lots of answers.  Just don't know which one (if any) apply to your song.  I'm still without any real understanding.

Went to the London Daily Telegraph to see if I could figure out the event you refer to.  Dunno which one it might have been.  I was fascinated by the blunder one Scottish Politician made when he referred to several infantry divisions as "cannon fodder."  Not that they aren't "cannon fodder" but it's taboo to tell THEM that.  'o)

PBBC.org took me to Potters Bar Baptist Church and/or Pine Bush Bible Camp.

Thanks for commenting Paul.

Hi HTM, since you are not UK based I'll drop some hints 😊
One of our BBC channels here is CBBC, for children. We've had a lot of scandals with high profile celebrities in the BBC (Rolf Harris, Jimmy Saville, Gary Glitter and quite a few others). Yesterday an investigation into the BBC's role in all this reported that 'the BBC was too deferential to their celebrities'. If I worked there I'd be hanging my head in shame.
So there's no 'P'BBC really, it's the 'C'BBC - or should I rewrite this as 'D'BBC? (Deferential).

Hope that has confused things even more :-S

GTB, with  you on this, the whole thing is beyond words... I wrote one a while ago - Fall
Anway a good powerful write, humour and irony are powerful weapons well used.
Thought perhaps the key was a bit high for your vocals.
I'm still confused by the P in the BBC, once into the song i assumed it meant peadophile but I may be missing something, why not sing it and call it BBC?
Wobble board was genius.

Cheers Neil, you're spot on!  I didn't think I'd made it so obscure but I guess it's not going to headline on the BBC World Service...
Oh yes, I did struggle in that key, even more than I usually do 😁

Ahhh  NOW I get it.  I could tell it was a well written lyric, just didn't quite get the whole meaning.  This brings it all into focus.
