This has happened to me many times, and I'm guessing I'm not alone...or maybe I am :o
I'm listening to one of my tracks, usually during recording or mixing and I hear something that's not there. I know it's not there because I didn't put it in!
Usually this something sounds pretty damn good and it's the same each time I listen to it. It's often something like a little run or fill and I put it down to some obscure combination of frequencies or something similar.
I then usually go back and add in what I'm hearing for real, just in case I am imagining it and no one else hears it.
Anyone else have the same experience? Lucky I'm not religious or I might put it down to God talking to me through my music.

This happens to me regularly when I am playing with my band (guitar, bass & drums)
I often hear other parts (eg extra vocal harmonies, keyboard or horn parts) that are not there
We often discuss it as a band and all hear it (so I am not going mad!! - or more likely we all are!) and I believe it is a known phenomenon
