I write a lot of religious songs , Its a staple in country music . there's some killer Jesus songs . Whatever a writer wants to say is fine with me . Major Christian songs stray away from profanity. but they're devout Christians . Back to your song , I was kinda thinking this hook had to be been done , and it has. Just for the sake of competition. You would have to beat her song.
😆
Well done to whoever wrote that!
That hook, the sentiment, it is indeed a fruit of the same tree.
It's very country, with the prominent slide.
It turns me off a bit. Nashville skyline, the album by Bobby D, uses it a lot.
I didn't like the slide as a kid when I first heard it.
Great album of songs, it won me over in the end.
Typical English productions rarely, if ever, apply that slide.
It took me ages to accept David Byrne was/is American because of his heady self restraint.
The English songwriters are culturally a different animal.
The Americans more smash n grab. This doesn't mean I don't think they're great.
Dylan, Prince, Reed, and Neil young are usually in my top 5 songwriters.
(Prince did that song "rock n roll love affair" and "when you were mine" and others, quite country I think)
It's both impossible and easy to compete with a breathy, introspective beautiful woman.
Sort of cheap n yet hard to resist at the same time.
Aside from that, the production on this track is full of all the tricks that are to be expected.
Chunky memorable chorus too.
Songwriting here is of course top notch
It does make me want to add more to my own track.
Interesting. Thanks for posting that.
