I look forward to hearing some of your stuff as your methods sound very interesting and intriguing.
I'm not entirely convinced that what you've read about Beethoven is correct as the rules of western harmony were firmly in place by his time even though still evolving and being broken. What set the greats apart from the rest though was undoubtably their ear and innovation.
Beethoven was practically completely deaf by the end of his life and still composing. Kind of puts me to shame really when I think about it.
I agree with what you say about ignorance, some very creative and unconventional ideas can come from it. I sometimes wish I could undo the things that I've learned so far and just be un-influenced and free.
