Hi peeps, finally got round to doing some music again, hope everyone has the Christmas they desire.. :)

https://soundcloud.com/knmac/no-mans-land-by-knmac

Never believe what you see what you hear,
take it from me they don't know, have no fear,

hold in your hand what you know to be yours,
in no mans land take your time to explore,

is the love you have enough for a lifetime,
if the well runs dry will you wait for the right time,
when your journey ends will you know where you
came from,
is the love you find enough to rely on,

day after day,
finding a way,
it's always the same,
alone...

thinking it through,
whatever you do,
your gonna do,
alone...

hold in your hand what you know to be yours,
in no mans land take your time to explore,
is the love you have enough for a lifetime,
is the love you find enough in the right time.

@shadowfax - Excellent prod, lots of space, love the snappy snare, just a thought to add something different to the rhythm how about having 2 snares, one tuned lower than the other, and on every other bar  either have both together or the other one, seemed to add an unexpected hook...people listen out for it...

Lovely work Kev

Hey keV. This is great. Love the vocal melody in the verse. Epic but simple and so catchy. Real sing a long. Backing tracks are also great and there is an overall crispness and jauntyness to the rhytm that really moves the song along. The use of acoustic guitar works perfectly. Good move. Like Binlada I think there is something missing from the interlude. It's just a bit too barren presently . Perhaps a bit more percussion that builds or some kind of shimmering guitar melody that periodically breaks through would elevate this bit. Happy Christmas Micky

Love that driving rhythm and riff Kev. Nice use of acoustic guitars adds more drive. Melodic and catchy. I liked the breakdown section and the (double ?) vocal and it's good the way it kicks in again after this section. Superbly produced and performed.

Hi Kevin, love the contrast between the chugging electric and the acoustic guitars, nice. Great vocals as usual and a nice melody. In the breakdown was you vocal just double in unison, or something else, sounded interesting. Good song and excellent production, as ever.

Nice one
Cheers

Loved the pulsing synths (or are they sampled guitars?).  They give the whole thing good momentum.  M8 worked well for me, keeping it sparse made the return of the chugging synth/guitars afterwards all the more welcome.  Top quality work.
It's all too beautiful.

Cracking stuff, Kev

Loved the chugging guitar and the Edge style delayed part. Production was top notch...lovely big expansive sound and a top quality vocal.

Great to listen to you again...happy christmas. buddy 😀

Hooky as hell - you're in ear-worm territory with this one Kevin.
Super track - like the suspension of the groove in the break - then it comes back just when we want it to.
And this line is worth the price of admission on its own:

in no mans land take your time to explore

Nice one
Have a great xmas  ;D ;D

Hi Kevin,

Lots of 80s goodness in this.
Started like it was going to be Kim Wilde, then we get U2 and then a signature KNmac middle section.
I was waiting for a Brian May solo to lead us out.

Cool tune and excellent production.

Happy Xmas,

Hi
I enjoyed listening to your latest song it has great lyrics and vocals with professional sounding production and instrumental backing. I also liked the catchy verses and  the Middle 8. The only thing that I think is missing is a discernible killer chorus which, in my opinion would really lift this song to another level.

Hi,
It's a well done track in terms of composition, mixing and interpretation. I really like this grain of voice. The rhythm is very catchy. The break around 1'30 really brings something. I really liked the change of atmosphere. It gives meaning to the cover.
Nice track!

Hi,

I’ve listened to the song 3-4 times.

There are somethings in this song/production I think are awesome, some things I think could be tweaked, and nothing I don’t like.

What I think is awesome;
1. The chugging guitar sound
2. The jangly guitar part
3. The tone of the vocals
4. The melody of what I “think” is the verse (the first lines of vox we hear)

What I might tweak;
1. The song structure is unusual. I’m not sure what is the verse and what is the chorus. As I previously said the first vocal melody we hear is fantastic and, to my ears, is an awesome verse. But, then, as its the strongest melody, the chorus is therefore a little weak (comparatively). So, I would keep the incredible melody for the verse and try to come up with a soaring chorus line.
2. Contrary to the other comments, I think the bridge is just fine, although I think it could be cut in half…I’m not sure it needs to repeat (musically at least)
3. It feels like there is a lack of low mids or bass part. The kick is very full but the sound seems light around the 60-150Hz mark (this is subjective of course)

Hope I’ve not deconstructed it too much. I genuinely think this has remarkable potential.

All the best,

Paul
