Title: Acoustic Guitar pickups
Post by: pompeyjazz on March 18, 2017, 10:06:11 PM
Just picked up a "Woody" pickup for my acoustic today as I've never really managed to capture that lovely acoustic sound accurately. Very pleased with it  :)

Is it a single coil,or a bucker,John?

I stuck a s/c fishman in my old Yamaha a few years ago,it's kinda ok through a suitable amp,but it's one noisy bugger in the studio. I wish now I'd spent a bit more and bought the bucker version.

Ahh...Ive frequently wondered whether such a pickup is marked improvment, but Im not playing live enough atm to be bothered to get one!

Is it much better than the standard 'on board' pickup you'd get on e.g. a yamaha? Any idea how it holds up in a live situation, being run through PA?

I do have one of those 'acoustic modelling' foot pedals which can help getting a better tone through a PA
