Hey forum folks - back from a busy time in my life. I'm hoping to have more time for music this year.
Here's one I wrote last month - would love some feedback please!

The More I Drink

A whiskey or two can set your heart free
Now, that's all well and good
But that don't work for me

The more I drink, the less I forget
The more I'm reminded I'm not over you yet
I like to think "I can drown my regrets"
But the more I drink, the less I forget

I joke like a fool, the bartender laughs
I warm up his stool
He fills up my glass

The more I drink, the less I forget
The more I'm reminded I'm not over you yet
I like to think "I'll drown my regrets"
But the more I drink, the less I forget

I remember your eyes
Your tender lips
You rush to my mind
When I take a sip

Honey, how could I think "I'd drown my regret"?
The more I drink, the less I forget

A whiskey or two
Well, that don't work for me..

A great bluesy song with some interesting and unexpected chord progressions. I've no suggestions at all for this one as it's perfectly formed just as it is. A great song. :)

Ooh yes, I’ll have some more of that.  The way the beat drives the song along without being dominant, nice vocals, good clean guitar work, changes to the changes that caught me off-guard three times.  Nothing not to like here imo.

Cheers - John.

@ChrisPrice - thanks Chris. Appreciate the kind words. Yeah the verses start in G while the chorus is in E. Who knew that could work? :D

@shadowfax cheers Kevin I added some harms near the end.

@Whiskey Club thank you kind sir!

@Elvis Nash Love you forum name. Not familiar with Blake Shelton but I hope it's not a copy :D

You can't copywrite a hook . Blake... a huge country star had the same hook back in 2007 .
They do that all the time , same hook different angle . No worries .

Hi @Paulski

Country/blues is something that you have a real knack for.  :) A wonderfully authentic song, with tightly written lyrics and a very complimentary performance. The shifts throughout help keep the ear guessing and a sense of flow maintained throughout. I can't think of anything much to improve. The recording/mix is really great and probably the best I've heard from you.  8)

All in all, a wonderful job on a great song.

All the best,

CCB

Your song made me follow its so nice cadence, I think the music and arrangement, and tempo, wraps so well the broken heart country-pop? song!!
Nice voice!! @Paulski

Great prosody, in my opinion! Lots of unstable elements to support the unstable theme. And then, kind of interesting--the chorus is fairly stable, which seems perfect, because that is the stable part of the song--the solid part, if that makes sense. The whole setting suits it so well. No nits at all, I'm afraid!

Clever lyric @Paulski - lovey bluesy feel to the whole song and your piano and vocal are up to your usual pro standards. No nits, no crits... just quality writing and performance!

Nice "your memory drowns the whiskey" vibe going on here. Perfect length and great ending. Great to see you back in these parts.
