Sophisticated and articulate.
Anutha stunna from you

The categorising, it might rarely serve a purpose.
It does get overly used, by little people who feel entitled to
have an opinion about everything.

A full album in one week
I'm happy when I get 1.5 songs together in a week.
Friends seem to think I'm productive.

hello @moraamarolaloba

Striking pulsating synth bass and wonderfully clear vocals.  Lovely, sparse production where your voice is allowed to breathe amongst elements of the soundscape.  Good use of instrumentation which is both inviting and challenging.  There is much to like here.  Well done

How we feel inside (working title “Labels Define”).

I hadn’t written for several months and it began to gnaw away at me.  I never think I’ll lose the ability to write, however, now and then, I have to prove this to myself.  So began a frantic period of writing in which I wrote a full album in a week.  I haven’t done that before and perhaps never will do so again.  A big thank you  (and apology) to John @pompeyjazz . I sent a new song to him every day for 7 or eight days as I laid the foundations of a new album called  “Home Of Kings”.

“How We Feel Inside”.  was the first song written for this project.  Many of the ideas simply crept into my subconscious.  Suffice to say I have a strong dislike for the labels “Generation Z and X.  They are in my opinion simply not helpful.  We’re all people in this crazy mixed-up world, trying our best to get through life and hopefully derive enjoyment and happiness from aspects of the journey.

I initially had a lovely guitar vocal version of this.  I then went on to add various instruments including accordion which is one of my favourites.  Hopefully the lyrics might engage.  They are simply my observations of the world in which we live.

“Labels define, undermine and divide.  They couldn’t tell you how we feel inside.

How we feel inside

It’s such a fucked up world.
I once believed that  I would turn it on its head.
Who did I fool?
Unprepared, I  quietly closed the door then left for school.

Generation Z, that’s a phrase that should be dead.
Why aren’t we one?
Labels define, undermine and divide.
They couldn’t tell you how we feel inside.

It’s such a lottery.
I do believe if you could stand inside these shoes you’d see.
Lost to our youth.
We’re living proof that no one’s getting out of this alive.

Generation X, regardless of your sex, we’re still the same.
Labels define undermine and divide.
They couldn’t tell you how we feel inside.

A face in the mirror, growing old, tired of pain.
In life, nothing ever stays the same.
May love remain.

Love,

Remain.

Love,

Remain.

You don't sound like a amateur. Yeah most pros use PRO Tools on a a Apple for whatever reason, Probably cuz they see less ads on Trump . PC was designed by the Kardashians  All a amateur is 10 steps away before they're professional.

@subvibe Thanks so much - Yes, I mashed it up a bit

@moraamarolaloba Thank you Mora - It was indeed a very strange queue

@Elvis Nash Thanks Elvis, No, I don't use pro-tools, I use Reaper. I believe that Pro-Tools is the number one choice of pro producers but as I'm strictly amateur I'm quite happy with Reaper

@PaulAds What another great Taxi queue story. I remember that I preferred to run the 3 miles home that to wait in that particular queue !I think it's the smell that I remember the most. A heady mix of vomit, Carling Black Label, Benson & Hedges, Urine, sweat, chips and Aramis. With regard to my mixing, I've not really changed anything major over the past few years. I reckon that you can get incredibly bogged down with all of the VST stuff sometimes. The drums are EZ Drummer but I've also got a Xpand2 drum loop really low in the mix with a dance beat. The only new VST that I've used quite extensively is the UAD CLA2 compressor which Paul V recommended when it was available as a freebie.

@Paul V Thanks Paul - Ah ! I forgot the Kebabs - A staple of a night out in Town !

@rightly Thanks so much - I bet those clubs in Manchester are as crazy as they have always been !

It's great to hear that you have found your way back to creative writing.  Good luck with your writing and welcome!

Oh a nasty theme
I remember trying to call it a night.
I was green in 80s Manchester. (The pop charts were good!)
As a teen I was once working behind a popular bar.
"Drink up please, we're closing in 10" could get eventful.
Fish n chip shops could also become the scene of many crimes.
The English kebab evaded any accurate description.

Resonant imagery
Do you want to get a taxi?
As effective as suddenly getting pinched 🤌
The song really delivers in its promises.

I should revisit those old places
"Fatso's, Mr. Bojangles, the roxy, the vic"
It'd be a very mixed bag.

The recording/production is phenomenal!  Vocals are ultra-clear and what a groove you've created.  I'm unsure if you have an acoustic rhythm going on.   If you have it interlocks with the drum and bass effortlessly.  That's when rhythm playing is at its best.

Trouble always happened in the Kebab shop back home.  How I navigated one or two scrapes is a mystery as I cued for my Doner with "Pleny onions" in a sorry state at 02:30 in the morning.  Anyway, back to your track John.  It is fantastic!
