Ok y'all, after the last solo offering where i went back to my rocky roots, this is us all working out a mixture of folk and Celtic rock all dressed up as a waltz. Take cover, accordion and guitar comin' right atcha.  :D This was the last track completing our album https://vancemagill.bandcamp.com/album/rolled-in-glitter-2 and according to my son,was too different to be included. What does a bass player know anyway.  :D It is a bit culchie..mind.

Engage brain before mouth, good advice and yet...tongue in cheek.  ;)

My mouth is hung in the middle and runs at both ends
I'm forever flapping my gums
I blurt every word my tired old mind sends
Fire them out,one after one

So pin back your ears while I'm yammering' on
Setting the whole world to right
I'm holding the floor and I've plenty more
To say,if you'll listen tonight

I should learn when to shut up my mouth
There are things I don't need to say
In anger and spite and what I think's right
Speaking out is not always the way

Chances are missed, what's said is done
White noise,so it would appear
Opportunity called, but now it's all gone
I as too busy talking to hear

I wish I could take back the things I've said
I wish I could wipe the slate clean
But time has moved on,opportunity's dead
If only and what may have been

In the peace of the night when the blood cools down
I reflect on the things I say
I'm a loose lipped fool,I'm a jabbering clown
And I think I've talked you away

Yet the only words that matter at all are the words I didn't say

Yo Skub,

I thought it was Billy Bragg on the intro guitar section which was very like his guitar sound (all good!) - what a great lyric - I've met so many people with this affliction ( me too I guess after half a dozen Guinness') - the section beginning "in the peace of the night..." is brilliant, simple effective and a great precursor to the final line beautifully sung by Fiona - Bravo!

I absolutely loved this Davy. I read through the lyrics a couple of times before I listened, inspired and we've all met probably too many of yer main man :) The accordian was great. I can just envisage a swirling cloud of smoke and the smell of Black Bush. Lovely structure to the song, great VOCs and instrumentation. Top marks from me. P.s your Album's great as well. Buy it people  :)

What a strange title!... ive heard of Mouth Trapz!.. excuse my listhp!  ;D
anyway..Wooohoo it started off like Gary Moore and i ran for my les paul ,but then omg it suddenly went into something like Riverdance ...& i excitedly ran for my clogs!
but now its settled down ...so ive settled down aswell & listened to the lyrics (which are definitely written by you!) & they are fab!
if your band has a fault for me its the sooooooo sad subjects all the time...so this was the perfect antidote
its not a funny song at all & i realy liked the way the grin inducing phrases tell a sober message..
Fiona has a gorgeous voice as we know & i found her emotion wringing voice tackling these funny Skub phrases delightfully hilarious ...sorry if thats inappropriate :)

Really good stuff Skub,

Got a real country vibe to me and the female vocal is great. Wonderful melodies.

The organ worked really well (don't know if I'm mis hearing the accordion you mentioned but it sounded like organ to me)

Liked the breakdown with the claps.

This just seems to have a bit of everything.

This is awesome. I can't find anything to nitpick about. I love the subject matter and I love the treatment. The vocal is gorgeous. The whole thing is gorgeous. I love it. Totally. It's great!

Okay okay, so I got a bit carried away and reviewed the wrong song!

I enjoyed this one just as much though. As Calia said, not a lot I can fault. Like the irish accent coming through, Mouth pronounced as Mythe, does it for me ;)

I found this song a bit of a paradox to be honest. There were lots of places where for some reason I expected an unexpected (different/unusual) chord to be thrown in but it didn't happen. Because I was for some reason expecting it though, when it didn't happen, it was still unexpected!

Do with that what you like.

Good stuff.

Thanks John...ah,Black Bush.  :) Thanks for the thumbs up on the album.  :)

tinam

Sthtop it already.  :D It's totally my fault on the usual morbid topics. I just can't seem to get fired up on the happy! Martin needs to take to the drink after listening to some of my ideas.  :D

Yodasdad

I got two song listens out of you for the price of one...cool tactic.  8)

Glad you liked it Vicki. When Fiona read the lyrics through for the first time, her initial impression was..'how am I going to sing that'?  :D

I think she did just fine. Ta for listening and commenting.
