Title: Have a listen
Post by: Jazz101 on March 29, 2024, 03:02:19 AM
Hi,
my name is jazz101, I used to write songs, sing and play guitar, unfortunately I had an accident which resulted in a plate in my wrist, which made playing really painful, and just to top it off, I was diagnosed with Abdutcer Dysphonia, which is quite rare and effects the vocal chords in 1 in 400,000 people, so as you can see I am obviously quite special (voice is shit) Ok lets be serious, recently I was encouraged to buy an arranger keyboard as my love of writing songs was always in my mind, it is quite difficult as I don't play the keyboard, but over the last few months I have tried my best to get to grips with it, I have recorded some songs using the keyboard with a DAW. If you want to give an opinion on my first attempt (excuse the voice), it will be posted as "the voice" many thanks for your time if you took the time to read this, George
The voice my song) which I referred  to in my introduction can be accessed from this link from my dropbox account as can these others.

The idea that you show us is very melodious, it puts the listener in nostalgia and sadness, I like the vibe it has, however the words cannot be distinguished, the FX that you have added to the voice is interesting but it blurs the words, I think If you mixed it again, removing a little of that effect, it would be great!!

Thank you for your feedback, I will try what you say, I suppose I'm trying to disguise the fact I have a vocal problem.

@Jazz101 (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=23181)  This is a nice gentle ballad and the keyboard playing is decent. Congrats on putting this together despite the obvious challenges. Your voice sounds ok, even if it is distorted a little in this recording. Have you considered using AI to generate a vocal from your voice? There are lots of tools out there, but kits ai is probably a good place to start.  Kevin

We got off on the wrong foot
Its a real good sensitive song
Like others have mentioned , You can buy A.1 to enhance your voice

That's a very decent song, kind of moody but not cheap at all.
Concerning the voice, I'd also just remove the effect you have put on it, add some treble and get them more up front. I personally like voices that sound different and therefore special.
