This was a very sensitive song for me when I first wrote it, I kept it a secret back then.
It was personal, now I've some distance.

this song (the original) is maybe 30 years old, this production is new.

I always liked it as a song too. Very simple, straight forward really.
I struggled with the production here, not so much the vocals this time.
Why do I insist on getting these things done so quickly.
Oh yes my shelves are overloaded with the unfinished.

I Know You Think

I know you think I'm crazy
you have no idea how much that hurts me
and in your chambers it must get lonely
your house is very big, it gets bigger when you are the only

and your lights have been off for so long
maybe you've forgotten how to turn them on

I thought I hated you
I really wanted to
I wanted you to see me strong
and ev'ry thing you thought, well, jus' had to be wrong

and your lights have been off for so long
maybe you've forgotten how to turn them on

I know that you think
I'm crazy, you think I'm crazy

It was funny when I turned things inside out
I was happy when your laughter took the last of my doubts
Big love I trust big words you must speak
or turn a deaf ear to this prisoner when you hear him weep

and your lights have been off for so long
maybe you've forgotten how to turn them on

I know that you think
I'm crazy, you think I'm crazy

but I'm not.

I wouldn't mind struggling with production if it ended up like that. I was listening to it and thinking about how one might do some of that stuff so I could try it.

Lyrics make me think, for sure. The only criticism I noticed was a lot of use of the word "that", but that's kind of a personal thing, I think. I often get too pedantic at the expense of the art, so don't pay me too much mind.

The original Titel was

LOL.

Interesting observation though.
It might be because I go more for rhythm than melody
'that " serves as a punctuation point, maybe it gives me time to consider the next phrase.
People like to say err in conversation for the same reason. Just speculation. I don't break my head much on these things.
By the time I'm ready to redo it, I'll keep it in mind.

Hi Rightly,

This reminded me very much of Roxy Music around the time of the "Avalon" album, especially your vocal delivery. This is certainly very different and I really loved the production with so many interesting textures and ideas. I can't find anything I'd want to change - a very stimulating, interesting and intriguing listen. Well done.

I agree with Vicki, if you struggled to get a prod like that, you should struggle more.

Very engaging song, great intro. love the space in there.

Nice work Mr Rightly

This is brilliant work @Rightly Always creative and inventive and as the other guys say, the production is fabulous. I'm getting a David Byrne vibe here. Love your vocal delivery as well. Cracking  :)

Thanks for the comment.
Yes Brian ferry
I hear it too sometimes. I was never a fan, as great as he is.
I often feel like a bandit when I pull off a production, I seem to make a lot of unnecessary mistakes.

Good work, from the off with the disturbing white noises, then into the neat e-paino.
I read the words first and thought they were intriguing.

Hi Rightly,

Liking this.
Got a mix of throwback and contemporary which sits well with me.
That little burst of noise works well, as does the vocal delivery.
I hear Ferry too. No bad thing.

Very nice.

Very cool.

I was going to say how it reminded me of some of Roxy Music's best stuff...and checked to see Alan beat me to it...Roxy were great!

Seems to be another big leap forward for you...I thought the vocal sounded quite playful and like you were really enjoying yourself too. And so you should be!

Excellent track :)

@Rightly

I've loved, over time, observing the evolution of your music man.

This is just great. It presents your highly original and creative work in a more polished and accessible manner, yet loses no artistic integrity in the process.

Always a pleasure to listen Rightly.

Starts with a great groove. Personally i didn't like the vocal but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the track.
Remember.... it's just my opinion. It doesn't make me right. Although i probably am ;)

And more.

Thanks a lot for commenting and encouragement over the last few years,
My trajectory of progress is all over the place and it's your fault. Lol!
But seriously I'm grateful.

The vocals on this track went quickly, I know the song.
I thought if I avoid listening to the sparse effects through  the phones it'll work out.
I like this vocal, it consists of two takes, and intentionally so, I wanted the third verse to be slightly different.
For better or worse I think this is my true voice.
In my dreams I sound more like Ttd, or Freddy mercury, or iggy pop.

Again thanks for the encouragement!

Hi Mr, R. As others have commented your production ideas and execution has improved greatly Rightly! Yes I get the Bryan Ferry/David Byrne/Lou Reed vibes too. Always interesting and worth listening.
Nice one!
