Hey RC James  .. good blues name
you stick to the ghost of Robert Johnson sound
Robert didn't sell his soul , Just talented and complicated being black in the era
If it was 2024 , he'd be on Time magazine and talk shows
Good job on this

Hey, @ChrisPrice

Love, Love, Love it. From the opening guitar right until the end. Great energy, melody, production and vocal.

The song kept my interest throughout and I like the fact you resisted the temptation to stick to 12 bar blues.

The mandolin and banjolele work really well too and keep the rhythm bouncing along nicely.

Thanks for posting this.

First, please forgive me for being absent these past couple of weeks. I will get back to reviewing songs here sharpish. Here's a new track from me. It features my first attempt at playing a mandolin and a banjolele.

Ripe Old Age
Written and performed by Chris Price ©2024

I went to the Silver Serpent Bar, I’m gonna see me a rock n roll band
I look online to see who’s on and old Sid has a gig there planned
I remember that dude from a long time back, I dig all his songs n I like the crack
Still doin’ the rounds n singin’ real gruff, yeah he’s rollin’ out the tracks

Ooh..he must be a ripe old age
105 years old n he’s struttin’ the silver stage
But he’s Ai, he’s a hologram
the image of the younger man he used to be

I wander up to the counter and I get myself a cool beer
I paid the man and took me a sip but nothin’ seem quite right here
Met a girl called Little Annie n I thought we had somethin’ real
When I reached out for her hand, let me tell ya there was nothin’ that I could feel

Ooh..he must be a ripe old age
105 years old n he’s struttin’ the silver stage
But he’s Ai, he’s a hologram
the image of the younger man he used to be

Well its better then being chickens cows or pigs in a a slaughterhouse. Even vegetables and fruits we kill everyday. So its not a pleasant experience for them either . So basically something has to die everyday for us to survive . In the case of the fish I catch , Just a slight annoyance. Hunting and fishing resolves the primal urgencies from evolution in man or women .

Catch and release Mora , We could eat them but at 20lbs , soaked in butter milk . might be tuff
Well I'm a bit sensitive , But God made them a fish , Keeps me out of trouble really , fish all day , work on songs .
its much easier going to Safeway , I'm to lazy to clean a fish .
Its the evolution DNA in us , Hunters and gathers . Back to your song , its a great mix . If you can do FX mix , you might to try mixing Dolby Atmos.

Yes, we did same, catch and release but... I think it's a bad experience for the fish haha Thank you for re-commenting, much appreciated!! @Elvis Nash

We don't escape the suffering, But get a few breaks from it. Were like planes lifting off to reach the higher power,( that's if your intelligent enough to grasp the concept)... but eventually we have to land to a world and minds full of problems .
I'm thinking ( being a optimist ) this and a few more done and being done, might do better with a ROI in Cd sales... added to a new Cd.
thanks

I looked out this morning, blues ‘s far as I could see
mmmm-hmmmmm-mm, blues ‘s far as I could see
went to check my mail, blues was all addressed to me

I went an’ picked up my guitar blues fell out like rain
Yahh – ohh – mmmhmmm – mm fell out like rain
An empty pillow your side ‘a the bed all that remain

I’m gonna ride on down on the coast at Gulfport
Ride on down, down on the coast at Gulfport
Swim on out ‘til these blues sink to tha ocean floor

Ain’t goin’ nowhere, just spinnin’ my back wheels
mmm-hah-mmm-mm-mm spinnin’ my back wheels
you evah had tha heartache you know just how it feels

change your mind baby, better keep it to yourself
oh yah, baby, mmmmm-hmm- keep it to yourself
used to these blues now baby, I don’t want nothin’ else

keep it to yourself baby
I’m used to these blues
I don’ want nothin’ else

The insrumentation is quite somber but the mood is livened up with vocal. Well done
