Hi Vicki  :)

There’s never a dull moment where you are…what a story you’ve cooked up over the years!

Really happy to hear that the wedding went well…despite the sling…you all look so happy ❤️

Congratulations!

And Yes! A book would be quite something.

Paul x

The Bar / Should I Write a Book???

To those of you who remember me (I see a lot of new names in the posts). Well, I've been busy, shall we say? I haven't been here since sometime in March. There were four pages of unread posts! I couldn't manage it. I cleared them and will have to start from scratch. And why have I not been here? Oh, man! Here's a summary.

I was scheduled for a reconstruction revision on March 22 (I had breast cancer followed by a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction back in 2014). The procedure went perfectly with great results. Then on April 8, I tripped over something I should NEVER have left lying on the floor and was told so by two people, one of whom had also tripped on it previously, so I have no excuse!!... I hit the floor hard, broke my left shoulder (I am left-handed) and ripped out all the stitches on my left side. I've been in and out of the emergency room and had a few visits to the plastic surgeon. I am mending but it is slow. I can't play guitar. I've had to write, eat, and type with my right hand. Grueling! And the implant on the left side had to come out, so I am now lopsided.

I have to wear a sling for a minimum of two more weeks, but I've been able to start using my left hand the past few days. Eating, writing, and typing. Most of the time.

My wedding was great. Other than my having to wear a sling, that is.

I was going to write a song a week this year. That lasted 11 weeks. After my accident, I slept a lot. I have more energy now but haven't started writing again yet.

Wonderful song @Elvis Nash, yes, I think voice needs more volume in my ears but at some moments it needs something more, reverb or delay to put it in a better plane with the piano... Lyrics?

Do you guys think vocal should be bumped up a tad ?
Bgvs need to added , but maybe now it’s drowned in mix ?
Thanks
Also the producer is doing this
I'm doing a thing where I'm finally mixing Atmos AND stereo sortta at the same time.

Sometimes it feels like a fight against a flood
With life dragging us thru the mud
Some man or women broke our trust
That turns souls to red rust
And lights turns to dark in a unkind way
But it can turn on a smile if we say
Chorus
Its amazing might sound crazy
Miracles happen everyday
When you feel like your falling apart
Because lifes to hard
If we let hope become our best friend
The pain ends and hearts mend
V2
We all get broken but need to carry on
Find the calm in ghostly storms
Cold nights bring on the past
But remember they never last
They leave a trail of unwanted tears
But sunlight breaks it ends the fears
Repeat chorus
Bridge
Love gets mighter brighter
And lighter
If we toss regrets into the fire
Repeat chorus

Hey Nick how are ya ?
Man real nice production on this , really enjoyed it !!!
A lot of cools things going on in right in places . I don't think you would call that a demo , more of a master recording Nick

Thanks, @Elvis Nash

I think that compared to your production standards, every song I do could be classes as a demo!! :)

So this is a really great song. I listened to Demo 3 right after btw, so comments really based more on that. Further to what I said on the WIP thread, I think the strings aren't really there yet. I love everything else (especially the guitar parts), but the strings are just "fine". They're being played more like a pad, but I think you have scope to make them a bit busier, particularly on phrases where there's no singing. You could use parts of the vocal melody in there, and play them like little motifs for example.

I feel slightly foolish because you're ahead of me in most regards of production, but that's what stands out to my ears. Great work as usual though.

Thanks, @Bankie

I completely agree. I've always struggled with strings but just recently I discovered that you can do so much with the studio strings in Logic Pro. There's ways to articulate them and give them expression so have been watching lots of Youtube video's on that subject.

Like anything though, they're never going to sound as good as the real thing.

Thanks again for your input.
