I would LOVE to be able to mix. I have tried with mixed results.

If you're serious about learning how to mix, this was what worked for me :
I started watching one tutorial a day, mostly before going to sleep, making notes along the way. Later that week trying it out in my own mixes. I'm not saying it's easy, or that you will become a professional mixer within no time, but it will deffinately help you make better choices with your future productions. Some great entries that helped me a lot:

Eventually you'll also need some pro mixing VSTs, which'll set you back quite a few hundred bucks if you want to do it right. But luckily, the standard EQ/compression/saturation/reverb/effects options in your DAW might be fine enough when starting to learn mixing.

Oh I have watched hours and hours of mixing video's. I even paid for a course a couple of years ago. I guess I'm just one of those people whose brain can't make sense of it all.

I’m still of much the same opinion about it all as I was when I first darkened the forums door some years back.

I think the greatest pleasure I’ve got from the forum has been the diversity of music that gets produced…and sometimes being part of helping that along. I’m not really one for commercial music…I don't seem to like 95% of it…so there’s little point in me trying to replicate any of it in the forlorn hope that some cigar-sucking Svengali will be so smitten with my latest Soundcloud shambles that he pulls his Bentley over and fires me a DM promising riches beyond compare in return for my sanity and/or the remainder of my self-respect.

I think I produce stuff that is probably appropriate for the standard of songs I write. I don’t personally think my playing or production is inadequate at all…my singing lets me down a little, but it’s ok for getting the ideas across.

I write when I feel like it and when I do feel like it, I like the freedom to write stuff that will never get me anywhere anyway.

I’m probably just one of the rats who didn’t see it as being a race.
