Time to move this from WIP - many thanks to the folks that commented there!
Kind of old school country with new school lyrics :)
Comments are welcome!

Print Me a New Girlfriend
Copyright (c) Tennyson Road Music 2016

You've all heard the story before
About a woman that walked out the door
A better man took her
While I'm out playin' snooker
With my pals and a bottle of Coors

But my friend owns a print shop in town
They're the best 3D printers around
When I could afford 'er
I called in my order
And my buddy says "Hey - what's goin' down?"

I said..

{ch}
Print me a new girlfriend
To the perfect dimensions I'll send
The one that I had's kinda "Gone With the Wind"
So print me a new girlfriend

The picture she left is so flat
I can't put my arms around that
But with these specifications
She'll be quite the sensation
When the fellas come to see what's on tap

Make her heart out of somethin' that's soft
I hope the cartridge I want is in stock
Make sure she's got a nice figure
Maybe one size bigger
I don't mind if she's a little bit.. "plump"  Grin

No...

Print me a new girlfriend
To the perfect dimensions I'll send
The one that I had pulled a "Gone With the Wind"
So print me a new girlfriend

{br}
She didn't even acknowledge she got my apology
But I'm not worried at all, you see
We've got the technology
To...

Print me a new girlfriend
To the perfect dimensions I'll send
And if this one ever leaves and she's "Gone With the Wind"

I'll just ask you to print her
Maybe half a size bigger
I'll just ask you to print her AGAIN !!

Good goofy song here. The chords are predictable but work for goofy songs.

1. The breakdown for me was way to slow.
2. The chorus could use some variation between versions. Repetitive is good for a sing along time song but with this the second line of each chorus could be changed to add just a bit more to the listening.
3. "The perfect dimensions.." makes me think you know exactly what you want but then you have "maybe one size bigger" which says the opposite thing.

I am in the United States so I was just curious is Coors a British beer? I have just never heard of anyone playing snooker while drinking Coors.

I can't remember the other version Paul but I am guessing you've added some frills from the sound of it? It still sounds great to me and Im still drunk on Tequila. Storming country song.

Great stuff Paul. Years ago I was in a warmup band and we did a cover of Dwight Wokam's Guitar, Cadillacs and Hill Billy music which this reminded me of a little bit. I love the attitude, style and humour but where can I get one of your strange Canadian beers and is it really possible to play snooker while drinking one ? Personally, I don't think that the first breakdown works all that well as I was just getting into the vibe at that point but apart from that, classic stuff. Buy me a Coors pleeeze  :)

Paul,
Great tune and loved the lyrics. but song apart the I think the arrangement and playing feels great. Love the live the feel.  Guitar and vocals are the highlights, especially when you go into that deep baritone country thing.
Suggestions - all i say is maybe put a electric guitar under the chorus to lift it up from the verse.
I think i'd have doubled the chorus towards the before the false ending, but all in all fab work.
 :)

Hey there Paul.......great tongue and cheek tune.........very delightful and fun to listen to.
Thought the lyrics were stellar.....I was thinking that the "gone with the wind" line should be replaced with a line that reflects something to do with printers ;). Anyways.....good one, and a solid recording, man!
Kudos,

As I said in the other forum, I just love this song. I'm a country boy at heart, anyway, so you're onto a winner with me, but this has so much class, great lyrics that are just so funny and contemporary, superb singing, great picking that nails that modern Nashville sound. It reminds me of much the CMTV stuff I used to watch in the 90s (? - was it that log ago?). I can even imagine the video!

Paul,

As usual a great song from you.

Love the lyrics.

The song fits the country formula and love the ending sequence.

Would go down well at Nashville.

Missed the WIP version so fresh unbiased ears here....
Ohhh, nice twangy guitars, me like!
Fab Paulski(tm) vocals and really dig the harmonies.
And now a nice piano as well,
Not much of a country guy but this I like!
Witty lyrics as well ;-)
Not complaints from me, well done!
Now sell it to Nashvill and enjoy an early retirement! :-)

Better get caught up thanking some of you good peeps :)

@matt.strachan

Haha yeah "goofy" I like that! BTW - "Coors operates a brewery in Golden, Colorado, that is the largest single brewery facility in the world." - from Wikipedia :) Thanks for commenting!

@MartynRich

Hi Martyn - yes I added a few tinkles and licks in the second verse. Thanks for the kind words!

@pompeyjazz

Cheers John - I remember that song too - nice harmonies on his stuff. That bridge slowdown was always going to be a personal taste sort of thing so no prob - glad you liked the rest  of it :)

@Neil C

Appreciate the kind comments Neil, esp about the guitar coming from one of the best pickers 'round these parts. Good call on the electric guitar in the chorus. I forgot to put it in there :(

@IronKnee

Thanks Tom - much appreciated. Maybe "stuck in the rollers" or "dumped in the bin" :)

@delb0y

You are too kind my friend. But no harm in being too kind :) at least to me anyhow. That review got me a swollen head - but better not quit my day job just yet :)

sorry to bump - need to thank folks :)

@Movin Flavour

thanks Sandeep - very kind of you to say that - yeah Nashville is the target here but prob more the old-timers! :)

@Jambrains

cheers Johan - can't ask for better from a non-country fan!

@Oldbutyet

thanks Pat - that depends what you want to print with it :) Appreciate the nice remarks on the feel of the song

@Skub

cheers skub - yeah I'm not promoting an act or anything - so allow myself a broad spectrum of genres to bastardize (oops... can I say that?)

@nooms

Dr hook - eh? I've heard that before - I'll have to check him out - maybe he's a rich relative :) Thanks for listening!

@PaulAds

cheers Paul - great name BTW :) - so glad you found it refreshing :)

Hope I didn't forget anyone - thanks all!
