spirit airlines

it was a brilliant plan,
came home early most days of the week
glow in the dark like a ten watt bulb
incredible from a hundred yards

the hugging kissing tribe
slept on the lawn in the summer
when the night boat sailed

the long reign of the night
on my window starlight
i would fly from the bad times, spirit airlines
i would fly from the bad times, spirit airlines

what you do and what you dont do
no better than ice in the sun
the tiny flakes that fall on the kingdom
the long reign of the night
the long reign of the night

i would fly from the bad times, spirit airlines
i would fly from the bad times, spirit airlines

Firstly, DONT LEAVE DIGITAL CLICKS ON SONGS! Oww, my ears, and oww my headphones, at the very start!!! Please edit the first second immediately, those sounds are bad bad bad!! If this was added on upload, delete and reload, although would be a strange thing for soundcloud to add?!

-------------

This doesn't plummet at all, it has a great smooth vibe to it.

I have no idea what this song is about. But it doesn't seem to bother me, the words have a lovely colour to them

The speak/singing strikes a good balance of melody vs intimacy. I also like the low fi drums. I don't know whether this was purposeful or due to recording constrictions, regardless, it fits wonderfully.

The chorused guitars aren't generally to my taste, but they do work great in this context so no issue here

Nice work!

Quite enjoyed this.

The vocal delivery really suits the song and the refrain 'I would fly...' is a good hook.

Also, your chum on bass deserves a mention for some tasteful playing.

Good song.

I really like 'I would Fly..' as well, it gave it a great lift. This is a really chilled song, reminds me a bit of Moby with the drums. I can't think of any way to improve it, good stuff :)

... can't see that it would radically improve anything.  I don't think this needs a defined solo.  Musically it flows very well, and gives the feeling of 'gently soaring above the clouds' :D...which suits the lyrics very well. I think a prominent solo might spoil that feel.  For me the big 'hook' in this song is the vocals. The music compliments them very well as it is.  If anything I would say that the volume of the loose guitars in the chorus could be tweaked down a tad, and the fade out could start a bit earlier, losing the last chorus.....but that's just petty sht :D......like it just as it is nooms.

thanks godot..CBs a lovely bass player and any songs he plays on he brings to life.
he uses an extremely ugly but great sounding warwick.

Lovin this lots

The "lo fi" drums are awesome

I liked the "gated" guitar strikes in the sparse parts

The only "critique" bit for me is the arpeggio'd part sounds like a synthy acoustic guitar - I didn't personally take to this sound

I think a real acoustic would have "sat" better in the mix - or you could have gone the whole hog with a proper synth sound

This is a real personal thing so do take it with a huge pinch of salt

A well structured solo might be nice towards the end but I do understand the risks - I say give it a go and see how it trurns out

Love this one man.

It's got a good laid back groove. The guitar in the early part's repeat is not obvious.  Without this loop the song has a more open feel and is not simple to follow, but never feels random and it drew me in. Great work.
Great vocal and gradual build throughout. Nice choice of keyboard sounds that sit well with the feel.

It shows that you don't have to hit your audience with a hook straight away. It's OK to build....if you do it well....... Which you have done.  ;) ;D

My only crit is, if you're going to use a fret-less bass, make use of the sound. The playing was fine it's just that they have a character of their own which didn't really come over in this one. OK... so I was a big Japan fan back in the early 80's an Mick Karn was one of my faves.

But this is definitely your best one to date for me.  ;D 8)
I have no authority or standing here, only opinions. :-)

WOW! Just Wow mate! Every single time you post a new song I rub my hands together wondering what treat
i'm in for this time, and you surpass yourself and my expectations every time.  ;D
Awesome mate. What a great melody and great hook.
I loved the way that second guitar came in... Genius.
Your vocals on this one are better than ever as well.
Your mate plays that bass beautifully too.
To be honest I like the ending the way it is, but if I was to add a kind of solo, I wouldn't add a guitar
but somthing like a theramin... A real high, angelic type thing like what you hear on Star Trek. I kow it sounds wierd but it would be in keeping with the feel
and the flying, spirit airways, thing.
I'm off for my third listen. It's bloody ace. ;D ;D
