i was hunting around for something i still liked & also sounded a big contrast to what i post here now
this is me  shock horror ...playing acoustic guitar!..... from 1984
i remember writing it on my electric but it didnt sound right so i borrowed this acoustic
i do still like this & it was one of the first lyrics i was realy pleased with

all our sins

my eleanor
shes a stranger kind of girl
she reads a book & feels the blood of Jesus flow
red fingers she wipes within
she will die for her own sins
over & over again

Father Mckay's
got a green eye for the girls
& a red one from the dead ones on the bar
sticky fingers he wipes within
he will pardon all of our sins
over & over again

Judge McCrory
reads the story in the press
young girl murders priest in vestry what a mess
from hands that hold all our kin
he will punish all of our sins
over & over again

I really enjoyed this Tinam to me it had a sort of electric folk thing going on. Very nice. BTB
not really good at anything - but as long as I am breathing I will keep on trying

really the guitar on this - like BTB says, a real folk rock feel. swap the casiotone for a bodhran and you're away with Fairport Convention!
And Kafla's comment did make me spit my tea laughing!

Lovely dark lyrics here

Nice acoustic playing too, I can see why you chose to switch to acoustic for this one.

Very different to what you have posted from your recent stuff. Perhaps you need to dust off the acoustic once in a while, it suits you :)

Love this one. Acoustic guitar short sustain really gives it an urgent feel.

Did panic when I heard the drum intro, but it works,        all of it,           Guitar, drums, vocal and even the extended fade out.

The inexperience of youth produced a truly original piece, and I wouldn't change a thing.  ;D

Excellent!

This is cool :) I wondered about those drums too at first but they fit. I enjoyed hearing you play accoustic too
and that riff was very mesmeric.
The lyrics were indeed dark and everything fit perfectly.
I like this  ;D

Listened again - it is brilliant

I sometimes think that the first songs I wrote were the best

I remember when I turned 21 I had over 100 songs, sometimes I wrote 3 in a day. I swore the days I did this produced the best songs , sometimes we can tweak and rearrange too much

This song has a classic familar feel to it, if you heard it on the radio you would assume it had been a hit :)

Really like this (I actually prefer you in this more acoustic style)

I love the fact that melody and mostly lyrically its like an English trad folk song but then you have given it a twist with the guitar parts AND the drum machine.... which totally turns the whole thing on its head... in a great way

will remembering this inspire you to get the acoustic out more often?  ;)

great song Tinam, great singing, really good!!!!

and that 'beat' could that be one of these tiny silverish Boss drum machines?....it sounds like that, and the sort of rythm you would make with that

it must be...

dutchbeat you obviously had 1 of those terrible things to!!
yes it was a boss dr rhytym... even the name used to embarress me like it was a sex toy >:(
it ruined all my/our recordings till we bought addictive drums but even then it took me 18 months before i could work out how to use it
im not  good with technology but somehow i learnt how to program the dr rhytym & so kept using it upto 25 years after i bought it
oh dear  dinners burning got to go speak more later!
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

haha, yes, it was the Boss Dr. Rythm!
one of these very breakable, so-called programmable little square things

i recognized the sound and possible also that specific "rhytm"

to program it was difficult, and even then, when you did  :P

years later i found out, it also could give a trigger (there was a "trigger out" socket), which i put through my Korg ms 20

and for a synthesizer band than we instantly sounded very modern (we were sequenzing! from that Boss Dr Rythm), just that Boss thingy together with the absolute beste ever monophonic synthesizer ever made, those two connected together made us absolutely as good (well, almost  :-[) as depeche mode

i am sure you were not after that, for me those were the days!

thanks everyone for listening to a much younger me...glad you all liked it
i dont think i was a better songwriter back then but i was a much better player ...i mean i was in 2 bands i was gigging & playing everyday probably ..now i go weeks without picking up a guitar
