Pontification
https://soundcloud.com/paulcanuck/pontification
We asked you to prepare a short report
The key word to remember here is "short"
But attempts to print it out broke our machine
It's a good thing that it did - because we saved all those trees
Pontification
Pontification
You've got our patience
Wearing thin
You go on, and on, and on, and on, and on
We think you're done
Then you go on, and on, again
A wedding speech is a few kind words for the happy two
But the key word you'd forgotten here is "few"
By the time we had survived your diatribe
That groom had raised a family with his blushing bride!
Pontification
Pontification
You've got our patience
Wearing thin
You go on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on
We hope you're done
Then you go on, and on, again!
Eventually you'll die and go to hell
Where you can plead your case for mercy to the devil
But when he finds out you've this problem being frank
He'll send you back to us, and say:
"No Thanks"
"NO THANKS!!"
Pontification
Pontification
You've got our patience
Wearing thin
You go on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on
We pray you're done!
Then you go on, and on, again
So - are you done?
No - you go on, and on, again
Oh - come on!
You go on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on....

Ah Paul, how I've missed those dulcet tones ;D ;D. I don't know what it is either but you have a talent for writing catchy, well played and written songs with a relatable lyric. Some things don't change!
Cheers
Jamie

Lol, witty lyrics as always, love them!
The song itself goes well with the lyrics style wise but will probably not put you on the Billboard Top 40. ;)
Nothing to fault re the performance or mix really.
A solid addition to your discography.

this is fun
I was never sure what this word means
there never was a more fun way to enlightenment
Masterful as ever. Well done.

Hi Paul,
I have realised that you like to keep things short on the song front so this song is no surprise. I'm a little disappointed that you didn't lay into the prog rock set as well!
Another one in a long list of clever, adorable and fun songs that you seem to have an bottomless box of.
Very enjoyable and funny.

Great to hear something new from you mate. Yes! Funny & for me at my wedding very true!!! (Only it was the father in law!😆).
Nice job mate! No nits.🎶👊🏻🎶😁

Hi Paul,
Cool retro song. Can see Merilyn Monroe dancing in my imaginations :)
-
Paul - nice work and made me smile (and sounds like you had fun with the ad libs too!).
I thought the middle 8 wasn't quite as strong as the rest (I'm not sure 'frank' is really the word you were looking for) but that's me being a nitpicker.
Good stuff!

This really struck a chord with me - some people just don’t know when to shut up and it drives me mad. Very, very funny 😂
But here’s the thing - the song is brilliantly performed and produced too, it’s a real slab of class all round and I loved it.
-
Very enjoyable song Paulski. Made me smile from ear to ear. And clever use of fade out with the outro. Thanks for Brighting up my day with this one.
-
Whato @paulski - Really good song, I can hear lots of planning and consideration in the arrangement, a crafter piece.
Nothing to criticise at all
It kind of reminds me a little cameo of a song that might have been in a 1970's comedy film, for example 'Summer Holiday' by Cliff Richard...then the next scene starts again, "Come on girls, lets go to the Beach...Great what a good idea"
And when the credits roll at the end, you hear a reprise of this song again.
Fun Song

@Rightly (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20219) - thanks rightly my man - yeah I wondered about whether people knew that word - I just learned it a few years back. So this is an educational song for some ;D
@montydog (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18653) - thanks Alan. Actually thinking about doing some prog stuff - need to get my cheesy xmas song done first though ;D
@LostBoy (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20481) cheers Leo - yeah we've all heard wedding specches like that - thanks for the positive comments.
@SlavaB (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19895) - thanks slava - I know this isn't your preferred genre so means a lot that you found some fun here.
@adamfarr (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20124) - cheers Adam. You astutely found the achillees heel of the lyric ;D I don't 100% like "frank" either, but the alternative (brief/good grief!) didn't convey the fact that even hell wouldn't have him (plus my Dad's name was Frank ;D)
@Bill Saunders (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=18525) - thanks Bill and thanks for the comment/like on soundcloud ;D
@mickyplankton (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20769) - cheers Micky - glad I got a smile out of you - my work here is done ;D
@cowparsleyman (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=21308) - thx cpm - that would be cool to hear it in a film. Not going to be top 40's as @Jambrains (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19875) mentioned :D - cheers for listening

I immediately smiled when I heard the intro. It’s full of character! This is everything that I have come to expect from you. Your skill as a musician and writer steer this song home. I’d really like to hear a personal song from you for your next submission. As always, smart songwriting!

@Paulski (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=19241) Just catching up on some reviews. I don't know how you come up with some of these ideas. It's an absolute cracker. Had me in bits ;D Fab stuff man

Every time I hear you I see a musical movie with its central character going quietly from one side of the scene to the other singing a story that makes all those who appear there smile and move their heads to the sound of the song. There you left me, smiling and feeling the warm air of the good of sometimes. I really enjoy the way you write and give life to what you create.
