This has the makings of something good. I like peaks and troughs, highs and lows.
With out a doubt emotions is everything! If you make that connection, you'll have them hanging on your every word.
Lyrics need reworking, quick example like:
'Your abscence sheds its shades all around' sounds like a tongue twister
maybe 'Your absence casts a shadow all around'
although I'm not overly keen on the word 'absence' and I do get a sense that the line reflects someone once being there, so maybe replace absence with ''Your memory casts a shadow all around'' just a thought
