I started writing this just after several statues were attacked for various reasons last year all over the country.
Good or bad, those statues reminded us of our history....and predominantly, that we need to learn from some mistakes.
Paint & Broken Bottles
Don’t worry the Stoneman can’t hurt you
In time those feelings disappear
Eyes blind cold in elements
Time changed when he was history’s balladeer
Learn from the errors of our ways
Don’t throw away what suffrage gave you
Hear those voices gone away
Paint and broken bottles isn’t Waterloo
Can these chains be broken?
Erase the dividing line
Will these words be spoken?
I'll be yours and you'll be mine
Zealous justice on those statues so old
Revolution’s shown its face
Reflects on all of us and on everything we’ve done
Can’t put these pieces back in place
Can’t fit these pieces back in place
Try and put these pieces back in place

nice song
I do like that distant trumpet
I want to get to use it someday
I like the intermittent guitar
Reminds me of Merz somehow

I really enjoyed your soooo different and special song!!! The arrangement and instrumentation are wonderful, minimalist, giving to the song atmosphere full of subtle intentions...
Love the lyrics!!!!

A lovely song about some controversial behaviour by a mindless minority. They won't change anything like that, however justified or otherwise their cause may be. I like the atmospherics and your lyrics sum up the whole sorry business rather well. I really good song in my book. :)
