Hello

Do we want a February Song Of The Month competition?

There is another competition running and I got an underwhelming response to the January competition...

Anyone have any thoughts?

Speaking only for myself, of course, I prefer themed challenges/competitions (like the "happy love song with a twist" going on now and which I HOPE to enter, if I make it in time). I know I would not manage to get a song ready for a February SOTM.

Is a February SOTM song a special one, then? I assumed it was for any song posted in February?

Yes if we have one that would be the qualifier I think. Question is - should we have one with the other comp running? I'm thinking maybe not - unless we make it a newbee-only contest or sth... :)

I ask because we have another competition currently running and I haven't had anyone offer to run the February competition and because I only received 16 votes in January...which I thought was rather pathetic, to be honest.

Just wondered if we were overdoing it, that's all.

It's not my decision, of course...I'm just throwing it out for opinions.

I feel that we ought to have one. The best song of the year might get posted and not be an entry for the 'special' competition that just happens to be going on too, and be lost....unrewarded...for ever.

Not newbies only but newbies to be included in the nominations perhaps?

Great, important not to let this drop I think. Opening it up does make more work for the reviewer, but most of us actually want to listen, so.... I would add one rule - if you don't vote then you are disqualified...  8)

I agree with Adam. Challenges I've been in elsewhere required voting as a part of entering. It isn't too much to ask.
