I've seen this area used by paulads and pompeyjazz in relation to the SOTM comp..you didn't complain then..why are you complaining now?

This part of the forum has ALWAYS been used to advertise the SOTM competition

We have tried stickies and notices in the past but these quickly become familiar and go unnoticed

It could be argued that the SOTM encourages MORE listens to songs posted in that month that would have otherwise got missed - especially those that get nominated - so I think the benefits outweigh a song moving off of the front page

I also think those that give up a considerable amount of time to administer the contest deserve support so I think the bumping comment is a little unfair

The host picks his/her favourite songs posted this month and then shadowfax wins.

Sensible answer time. 

The rules have been in a state of flux the last while. It used to be the host picked five songs from the month and members PMed their vote to the host,but pompeyjazz went and ballsed all that up by giving prizes and stuff. 

So Kevin will let us know what this month's rules are.

Yeah - I hope Kev's got some fab prizes as well  Seriously though, the other month with prizes and stuff was a bit of a one off, unless anybody is feeling generous that is

There will be five songs posted 1st of May..vote (by PM'ing me) for the one you think is best..that's it!!!

don't vote for next best or anything..2nd will just be the one with the next best votes..

It's a tough job for sure, be much easier to pick ten songs because there is so much good stuff!!

It sure as hell is a tough gig. The worst thing is getting the top 5 together as I'm sure like others sometimes my fave of the month is not even in the top 5
