This is a song I started writing in the summer, and finished about 6 weeks ago called "Nowhere To Turn". It's not inspired by anything that has happened to me, it's just these were the lyrics that came to me. I have a melody for it but am yet to come up with any music.
Verse
I've been down on my luck
Money hard to come by
I feel like a sitting duck
With nowhere to turn
I've been stuck in a rot
There doesn't seem a way out
And with nothing in the pot
There's nowhere to turn
I've been working really hard
Just to earn some more money
But if you're not dealt the cards
There's nowhere to turn
Chorus
I still haven't found a reason why
But that doesn't mean I'm not gonna try
Sometimes in life you won't get far
Even with your hard work you'll stay where you are
Verse
I've been down on my luck
Money hard to come by
I feel like a sitting duck
With nowhere to turn
I've been stuck in a rot
There doesn't seem a way out
And with nothing in the pot
There's nowhere to turn
I've been working really hard
Just to earn some more money
But if you're not dealt the cards
There's nowhere to turn
Chorus
I feel like I've been at my wits end
And it'll be a while before my life's on the mend
I have always tried to give my best
But sometimes it isn't enough when you're put to the test
Instrumental
Bridge
It's so hard, and people don't understand
The work I have to do to make end's meet
Don't want your pity, or you pretending you care
This is my battle to fight, and I've got to win it, yeah
Verse
I've been down on my luck
Money hard to come by
I feel like a sitting duck
with nowhere to turn
I've been stuck in a rot
There doesn't seem a way out
And with nothing in the pot
There's nowhere to turn
I've been working really hard
Just to earn some more money
But if you're not dealt the cards
There's nowhere to turn
Chorus
I don't think that fortune is on my side
Every time I've shot for some my aim has been wide
It'll probably stay like that for the rest of my life
Just about getting by, by the edge of a knife
