recorded and now on Soundcloud here https://soundcloud.com/gtbr/dracuas-xmas-ball
Also shortened it a bit :-)

He he, sorry but this is the first of 17 xmas songs I'm working on !!!  It was in A but our singer insists on 12 bar songs being in G so I have to record on my down tuned Draco - always happy to have an excuse to play that bad boy but I am worried that all my fancy chord inversions will lose their flavour at that depth :-)

Dracula’s Xmas party (12 bar-ish, downtuned 2 steps - chords not adjusted)

verse 1
Feel the spirits rising, calling from the grave
Everybody join in prayer
Accept your invitation and let yourself be saved
Welcome to the house of fear
verse 2
Come to Dracula’s ball, at the castle on xmas eve
Just about when the sun goes down
But we’ll go to hell with Cinderella if we forget to leave
Just before the break of dawn

pre-chorus
Dracula’s having a party tonight
So if you’re feeling thirsty we’ll be drinking through the night
Look Daddy, teacher says “you can hear the devil sing,
‘Cos every time the bell tolls a vampire gets his wings”       (toll of bell)

chorus
Dracula’s Christmas ball
Dracula’s Christmas ball tonight
We’ll be dancing like heathens on the feast of Stephen
Dancing until the morning light

bridge:
They’re sending all the garlic back to Gaul
They’re hanging up the mistletoe in the hall
Last time they were so excited, back on halloween
The King got pissed and Dracula kissed the Queen

verse 3
Santa’s going to be there, early on Christmas eve
Teaching his reindeer to fly
Their fangs will be dripping red and by the time they leave
There’ll be 15 red nosed reindeer in the sky

solo then chorus

chords: A7 x 0 2 0 2 0     A7! x 0 7 5 6 x    Adim7 x x 4 5 4 5
D7 x x 0 2 1 2      &     x x 0 11 10 10 (slide down)
E7 0 2 0 1 0 0     &     0 7 9 7 0 0      Emaj7b5  0 7 6 7 8 0

it has potential...but i think it did not flow as much as it could have
but otherwise it has a really good bridge and guitar  line

i don't play guitar so i got a little lost
 it was very interseting though
i mean very different twist on christmas
i would like to see the lyrics without the chords
just for the dummies among us only cos thats all i can do
i can see alot of work went into this keep it up   NICE...

Magical  lyrics indeed, "the king got pissed" dragged them down for me, I loved the story, on reflection I think this is superb. Terry.

Ooh Terry, you've given me an idea - "The king was miffed when...", some options appearing thanks :-)

thank you for putting this out just lyrics
firstly keep it raw for me pissed goes and it just says it, only my opinion
good story to it i also got a bit of a funny side to it
it's not easy to pen a christmas song
some greats have tried and failed
well done you nice twist to the festive year
hope i don't get an invite take care...

To be honest I couldn't NOT read this one with a title like this. Brilliant title. Yes it's an Xmas song but what an original twist- I don't think anyone has ever thought 'let's write a song about what Dracula does at Christmas'. Some great lyrics. I love the king gt pissed line and think changing it ruins the tongue-in-cheek nature of the whole song. This song is obviously a Christmas parody its not a heartfelT power ballad so I don't see any need to censor pissed in it. In fact it adds authenticity (well as much as authenticity can be added to an Xmas party hosted by Dracula!) as many people do get pissed at Xmas. Loved the rhyme of Heathen and Stephen.

I don't play guitar etc but am i RIGHT IN GUESSING THAT THIS MIGHT HAVE A pOP/rOCK VIBE TO IT?

Thanks for the comments everyone.  I was thinking that most people aren't very religious but still celebrate xmas, so I thought why not Dracula?

Benjo - jury is still out on the word 'pissed', I did consider a bleep instead but it'll depend what mood I'm in when I do the singing.

Sing4me88 - yep, it's a kind of 12 bar fast shuffle, giving me hell trying to record it with all the chords all over the neck and the solo, Aaaargh!  I stuck a couple of dim7's and a 'maj7flat5 in there and it sounds great on rhythm but is difficult to solo over.  I'm trying to devise a rhythm type solo to solve it :-S
BTW I have 16 more xmas songs in the pipeline - watch this space :-)
cheers, GTB

Oh I love this (...Until it gets played repeatedly on Heart radio from october to january and I can't get it out of my head... ;D) it's unbelievably original and like S4M88 said the title is just ace. I feel slightly Christmassy now...
