of the big ones or the lost ones, funky slushy ones, hymns, carols, classic rock, dubstep...
whats your fave xmas song, that says it for you ?

mine would have to be the snowman, i know some folks would rather cut off their ears but it gets me everytime and i like talk talk and tomwaits and eat bricks but i melt when i hear it..
fairytale of new york  seems to be the classic these days,  tremendous record.
cant stand the usual turkeys but id appreciate the pension...

the band wrote a wonderful christmas song but its seldom heard,  christmas must be tonight

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas... Not sure who sang my favorite version of it
Glasvegas' A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like A Kiss) is a close second but it's less Christmas themed and is more 'set during Christmas'

Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name. Obviously because it beat all that X Factor-y crap, but also because it shows the power the public had, even if most if the time we go along like sheep with anything we're told.

If you read the lyrics it is actually about the stress on the  Postal system around December;

Some of those that work (postal) forces
Are the same that burn crosses (bah humbug!)

...just a thought, but does Rage have to be included on compilation albums now?

Everything is easier said than done.

Except talking.

That's about the same.

i like the bing crosby version of white christmas...isnt there a pistols version ?

Glasvegas' A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like A Kiss) is that another version of 'he hit me and it felt like a kiss'  an old fifties classic, shirrelles or somesuch, written by ellie greenwich ?
sorry you just stepped on a recent thought...

i would add that tom waits song as well...
i can remember playing it on one particular xmas when i didnt get the present i expected..that and blue valentine...magic
i may not believe this tomorrow...

David Essex - winters tale, seriously it's beautiful and sad

Sinatra - Hark the Hearald Angels Sing - the resonance in that voice

But all time needs to be Deano and Let It Snow! Man I just want to sit with a big wooly jumper, drinking red wine, eating party food and thinking about getting my way with my wife when the kids go to bed ::)

Another vote for Fairytale of New York, I never tire of it.

I also like Winter wonderland, puts me in the mood.  Oh and Baby it's cold outside that's good too! One more Santa Baby, bit of a sexy xmas song I think!

Walking in the air is a gorgeous haunting song nooms I forgot about that one!

Fairytale of New York has to be one of the best for me at least but there are so many haha

I love The Ray Conniff Singers. Nothing more Christmassy than that :)

Fairytale of course, and stop the cavalry is great! But mostly I like all the old big band stuff for xmas - Ill try and think of the names, I can only remember tunes which I generally sing 'ding ding ding-a-ling' too...
Carol of the Bells is awesome aswell...so dark for an xmas song :)
