Do I love her? Probably not. But I do think she has great melodies, an interesting voice and beautiful production. But the lyrics let it down for me. Fave song of hers is Born to Die I think but I haven't heard the whole album yet.

I'd rather listen to this though :)

Not on this showing.  :(

You know me dude. Not one for listening to lyrics, so the song has got to hit me musically and this one just doesn't do it.

I'll listen again in the morning and see if my opinions changes with a second listen.
I have no authority or standing here, only opinions. :-)

@Tone...born to die is a good song.

I agree about her lyrics..but her songs don`t need clever words..just imagery ,sound bites...also she can`t really sing in the proper sense of the word ,so again adjusts her songwriting to suit her style...it`s just nice to hear someone putting out material thats so beautiful and dark ...hey Jessie Jay!

She's got some good songs, but her album was just a lot of the same thing TBH.
I reviewed it for my music website and it didn't really stand out for me.
She has a nice voice, but I've seen some live footage that was really horrendous...

The Music Noir thing only goes so far. Not surprised it grates over an album

I saw footage of her performing at Hackney Festival this year. Dear lord was it ropey. She bends so slowly into her notes and too often stops flat. It was a little painful to hear at times

Alas, no, I do not love her from what I have heard.

I despise her. Or rather I despise the hype. She's nothing special, really, yet here she is with her fake lips and million dollar deal and people seem to think she's the bees knees. Meanwhile we have people down here at this level of the industry (as in, hardly even in it) who I daresay are far more deserving of recognition.

I also get pissed that she's trying to call her stuff a brand new genre (Sadcore, I believe) which is perhaps the biggest steaming pile of horseshit I've seen since I visited the local colonial village. It's not 'sadcore', it's just someone singing in a slow, low voice to an orchestra. It's literally less new than rock n roll.

Here's the thing: inflated lips? Yes. Too much hype? Yes. But guess what?  That's just the way the record business works now. You can get angry about it or you can just carry on making the music you make, and making it as good as you possibly can.

Lana Del Ray may have a million dollar deal, but will anyone remember her in a few years? At least there's some proper songwriting going on, even if the lyrics are somewhat lacking.

I used to get angry about it - but now I honestly don't care. I quite like her music. I take my hat off to ANYONE who puts themselves out there and has a go. I wish her luck. But I do think the business will chew her up and spit her out once the label has made a tidy profit...

Who?  I suppose I should elaborate - I genuinely haven't  heard of her before.  I should embrace more new music as I get older but I find I rarely do so. I'm thinking of adopting a more commercial approach to my own writing style so I should be seeking out new artists more frequently.  I'm off to listen now. :)

This is the first time I have listened to her. It was ok but nothing original. Reminded me a lot of some of Stevie Nick's solo material. The vocal was so over processed it could have even made me sound passable.

I would listen it in small doses but can't take any inspiration from it.

I'll just leave this here...

:D  You can still hear theres a nice tone to her voice...it`s such a short clip!

So what she needs a studio to sound good....so do most these days(and on here)

still writes some interesting stuff....and shes cute.. ;D
