This guy is head of the Couch Potato's Union!

I've Seen The World:

When Elvis shocked the nation
With a swivel of his hips
She tidied up around me
While I polished off my chips

As Armstrong and his buddy
Made that leap on to the moon
It kinda spoiled the moment
When she said she’s leaving soon

(Ch)
I’ve seen the world
And it’s twenty inches wide
I’ve seen the world
With a six pack by my side
I’ve seen the world
From the comfort of my home
I’ve seen the world
Don't wanna do it on my own

When Nixon held his hands up
And admitted that he’d lied
I clung on to her picture
Eating chicken wings and fries

Prince Charlie and his Lady
Got it on and tied the knot
As i cried about my baby
And the love that I had lost

(Ch)
I’ve seen the world
And it’s twenty inches wide
I’ve seen the world
With a six pack by my side
I’ve seen the world
From the comfort of my home
I’ve seen the world
Don't wanna do it on my own

(Br)
For every foreign conflict
All the major sports events
I’ve been an armchair witness
Wearing sweat pants and a vest

(Ch)
I’ve seen the world
And it’s twenty inches wide
I’ve seen the world
With a six pack by my side
I’ve seen the world
From the comfort of my home
I’ve seen the world
Don't wanna do it on my own

(Out)
‘Hello, pizza delivery?’
‘Can I get a deep pan Meat Feast with all the toppings’
‘Yeah, it’s me again’
‘Who’s delivering tonight?’
‘Hey, can you say sorry to the other guy for me?’
‘I was a little drunk!’
‘Yeah, that’s right.’
‘No, no, I realise now
She’s never gonna come back
It’s just that I get a little down sometimes
Hey did I ever tell you about the time we first met?’

I’ve seen the world
I’ve seen the world
I’ve seen the world
I’ve seen the world…

 hey phil really good write

good journey too I loved the fun side of that
but if i'm honest I didn't like the outro
it just seemed to go of track to me

if it were me i'd find another good verse
and then maybe repeat a little

good topic though over all good stuff

I like the way it moves through time and shows that the ache hasn't left, and the listyle that maybe  contributed to her leaving has perhaps gotten more ingrained and used as a way to deal with the  possibly self inflicted hurt. the junk food, six pack, telly watching escapism and the follow on regrets and how isolated he is, the pizza driver he falls out with whilst drunk comes across as one of the few contacts he has in a lonely existence where he's not looking after himself.

Hi Tony and Green Shoots,

Thanks for the visit.

I did have an extra four lines in the bridge but left them out as it's already longer than War and Peace!

The outro is just him doing what he does. Ordering in more takeaway grub to go with his beer.

There's about 26 years between Elvis and Charles and Di's wedding so he's been at it a long time!

Cheers,

Phil.

You have absolutely captured, in a semi-humorous, yet totally serious way a depressive personality.

Very well written and insightful.  This is phenomenal imo.

Hey Phil
Another really good 'un IMO.
Love the rhyming, the tongue firmly planted in cheek style.
PS - got a few ideas on music for "After the gold rush", Now to find some time to put them together..
Looks like Neil is busy so I will have to wing it myself.

Hi Verlon,

Glad you liked it. I wonder if he's still there now!

Hi Paul,

Thanks for reading and look forward to it.

I don't know if he's got over his writer's block yet! He's trying to get together with Crazy Horse for another album.

Cheers both,

Phil.

Dang, another good one from you. You're really pump'n them out aren't ya? Sticks right to the point and stays there too, no mess'n about. Well written and comedic while being a bit sad. Cheers.

Hi Innominate,

Cheers for reading.

I'm not really prolific just finishing off some half finished, three quarter finished, snippets etc!

I love the originality of this. It's a fun, cheeky sort of song but it also made me think about how we have the choice to sit and watch very one else succseed or get up and do something ourselves! Great lyrics!

Hi BooBoo and Scarriff,

Thanks for reading and glad you liked it.

It stretches the boundaries of probability a bit but what the heck!

Cheers,

Phil.
