Wah ! More experimental stuff going on here. I’ve sampled some one note sounds from psychedelic stuff from the 60’s then played them on a midi keyboard. An interesting experiment indeed. OK, it’s a bit of a rip off but fascinating to discover another songwriting angle

Ch1
Nothing happens, down in the fields
Imagination is not what it seems

V1
In the winter of our discontent
When the money's gone and when my bodies spent
In the spiral of denial
Fall into the looking glass
Found you staring at the grass

Ch2
Nothing happens, down in the fields
Imagination is not what it seems
Whirling in circles on this crazy spinning wheel
Conversation, has to be real

V2
An alternative of hope
A new dimension where your mind will just explode
Are you ready, hold on steady
Cos I don't have
Another lifeline

Ch3
Nothing happens, down in the fields
Imagination is not what it seems
Whirling in circles on this crazy spinning wheel
Conversation, has to be real

@pompeyjazz  Sargent Peeper comes to Portsmouth! Very cool 60s "summer of love" vibe. A very nice change-up for you and another musical vein to mine.  (Reminds me that I bought a AKAI MPK Mini that I plan use when I get a Round Tuit.)

Nicely done, Kevin

"I really like it man"
"Has a lot of cool nuances going on "

Pretty cool, and reminiscent of a sound we all love to hear (might even be better than the latest Beatle offering, me thinks) Though, in the end, a great tribute to a time when experimentation ruled the airwaves. BTW, the audio engineer part of my brain wanted to dive in and attenuate the 200 hz part of it. Always love your vocals, no holding back, comes through loud and clear.

I think we'd all benefit from a few hours inside your head John  ;D.  It's great, a massive 60's vibe and as you say a completely different approach to songwriting.  Top work.

Thanks All,

@kevysc Yes - I had great fun making my own samples, those little AKAI keyboards are just the job

@Elvis Nash Thanks so much - I'm more like a very old John Lennon if anything  ;D

@popitup Thanks so much for your observations. I'm going to examine that frequency range. TBH that last Beatles offering, although it's a "Nice" song really left me quite cold.

@PeteS Thanks Pete - You probably wouldn't want to be in my head for any amount of time, but thanks anyway  :)

Wah indeed. Psychadelia is a much underloved style and it's great to hear what you've done - the pulsating organ (oh er missus) is a really great effect. For me the verses were delivered with your great punchy and insistent style but seemed almost a bit too straight and different from the rest?

The lyrics maintain the hippy-ish vibe (and don't have any particular link to any time period which I also like)

@kevysc I have a MPK Mini and it does everything I need.

Nope, doesn't remind me of anything I've heard. Love to hear a bit of experimentation, and the lyrics were interesting; not sure if the meanings in my head matched what came out of yours, but that's a good thing IMO.

Hi
This is a amazing song & so retro
Its got a great Trippy feel & wouldn't be out of place on the Sg Peppers album
my only crit is the drums are a bit boomy & take away the clarity of some of the
other instruments If they were tamed a little i think it would all sound clearer/transparent

I love the way you are Bold & think outside the Box .. this results in the great
songs you are sharing with us

Top Stuff keep them coming
