Back again!
I wasn't expecting a whole load more reviews - thank you to you all.
@montydog,
Such a quality song that benefits from the full band treatment. Alan, I hear your songwriting going from strength to strength. I love the acoustic treatment, the piano and pedal steel. I can hear this being played in a smoky bar whilst people socialise, dance and enjoy a drink. This is so polished and professional.
Abolute quality

Wow! That's a lovely review; it makes all the work and wobbly self belief worth while.
Hi @montydog
What a brilliantly crafted piece of music. A truly lovely listen, even if it’s not my usual cup of Rosie. So much going on, beautifully delivered vocally. Who played that sax? I get that @Boydie did the mastering and it’s all the better for it, but you must have done a heck of nice job on the mix prior to handing the stereo file over...great stuff.
Thanks for the complimentary comments. I was pleased with the way this turned out in the end. The sax was played by a guy called Mark Douthit
http://markdouthit.com/home.htmlReally dig this @montydog - a great voice, and an unusual subject.
Nice prod too.
Rich
Thanks Rich. Coming from someone with your production skills, that means a lot.
Very nice song. Love "Kissed the sleeping face of freedom". Nice sax and a nice mix of fun and serious. This country style has become a very interesting fusion.
Pleased you picked up that lyric - spend a lot of time on lyrics and sometimes it pays off. Thanks for the comments.
Well Alan this was a great listen, what a great lyric, so many great lines, but my fave is the “you’ve got to run a righteous road, to run a crooked mile!” Some really great imagery throughout. I too loved the sax, you could have easily over used it, but u kept a tight leash on it and it sounded great with everything else and lifted the track nicely.
I always like your songs man! Good stuff!
Thanks for taking the time and it's great that you liked the lyrics and imagery.
Intriguing, verse is solid, trad country but the chorus is more 60's pop, at least to my ears. Very strong chorus, think it has even more potential then you get out of it atm. Strong vocals and good lyrics (as expected), I'd say this one is among the top 5 of your stuff (in my book at least), well done!
Thanks Jambrains that means a lot coming from one of the forums titans :-)
WOW....Monty . What a song....one of your best.
Just love the instrumentation. Is that a pedal or lap steel ?
Whatever it is, it is played brilliantly, as is everything else, and that
sax.....mannnn, you've blown me away . I'm lost for words...
Loved it, old friend...you're a star
Thank you so much, Bin. Really kind words blew me a way. It's a pedal steel BTW.
Once again thanks to all who commented. Makes it all worthwhile.
