I'm not trying to rip off John Lennon even though it may
look as if i am,this is just a little something i wrote bearing
in mind it would have been John Lennon's 75th birthday yesterday,
i'm not even sure if this has a tune to it!

                          TRY TO IMAGINE

Try to imagine a world without greed
a world without hunger or people in need
try to imagine you can if you try
no hell below us above us just sky
i know i'm a dreamer but that's by the by
go on imagine you can if you try

imagine a life
where everybody gets on there's no trouble or strife
no reasons to hurt therefore no war
and love is the word forever more
i know i'm a dreamer but that's by the by
go on imagine you can if you try

imagine the feeling imagine the joy
what a life for a girl and a boy
imagine the wonder imagine this ball
where everybody's free i imagine it all

you can if you try,you can if you try
you and me brother we can if we try
you can if you try,you can if you try
you and me sister we can if we try
i know i'm a dreamer but that's by the by
go on imagine you can if you try.

Hello Tom,

Liked this, like the sentiments it contains. I did think if you dropped a couple of lines,

“try to imagine you can if you try
no hell below us above us just sky”

it would be less like Lennon`s Imagine. And would serve nicely as a tribute to him, and the original sentiments in his song.

And to be honest, the only tune I can imagine to this is …………you`ve guessed it, Let it Be. :D

I think this is great, Tom

And I don't even like "imagine"  :)

Excellent!

    Hi Tom,
As a tribute to John, this is just fine. But as a stand alone piece, its too close to the original for comfort. Your heart is in the right place though, and i can't knock you for that.
