Title: A place both wonderful and strange
Post by: Andyb on September 21, 2018, 07:16:18 PM
I'm rattling these songs out pretty quick as Ive committed to a gig about a month from now. Its maybe starting to show in terms of production as we get closer to the event. I'm treating these songs like decent demos and they will all be re-recorded later in the year. This new one is a definite change of pace for me again all performed on my bass even all the ethereal soundscaping bits. All feedback welcomed as they will be getting re recorded I'm happy to change bits / mixes etc.

lyrics:
shall we forget the past?
fold it up and just start again, I'll take the blame
Tie it down, hold it fast
Stake your claim on my father's name, I'll make the change

Tides will turn on a coin
let them run like the colours in your photographs
pulled apart and rejoined
hold them high in your broken hands and take a chance

We made a shelter and called it our home
but we never got to live in it
somewhere to hide when the world takes a turn
is it time to let the others in?
Ghosts from the past never leave you alone
I can teach how to live with it
life is a lesson that you'll never learn
but it doesnt make a difference

time will heal broken hearts
as it does almost anything you set it to
trace the lines of your scars
they forever be a part of you, you can not lose

little steps in my shoes
doubled up like you're walking in a hurricane
any path that you choose
(the) destinations are all the same, a wicked game

words are hopeless
you should know this
lost in protest
there's no progress

That bass sound, love it:)
The song is really atmospheric, brings up images while i'm listening to it.

Really good interweave of instrumentation and that bass line really explodes into the chorus.

My own songs tend to have the vocals out front, which I know is a bit less fashionable these days, but at times I did think you had gone a bit far with sinking these vocals into the mix.

Really like this and if you reproduce this even partially live you are going to sound fantastic at your upcoming gig. Good work!

Great energy in this @Andyb (http://www.songwriterforum.co.uk/index.php?action=profile;u=20943) ... I guess I'm a fan already as all of the songs I've heard by you I've really enjoyed. I continue to be amazed what you can do with the bass. It's really a great sound.. Lyrics work well for me. Just an enjoyable ride right through for me. Love it!

Karen.
