Hi - Hope all of you are doing well on the Forum. Apologies that I haven't been around to do any reviews recently although I've listened and left a few comments on some tracks on Soundclout.

Here's one I wrote last week. It was one of those songs that just appeared and I managed to get it done and dusted in a day although I have tweaked it a little bit since.

Take care all  :)

V1
Welcome to the twenty first century
Welcome to a brand new philosophy
Everything's broken surrounded in chaos
Don't get on you high horse it's sent there to try us
Sinking away into waves of anonymity

Ch
Break through
New view
Hard to see
What we're going through

V2
Are you still searching for an identity ?
Or grabbing the treats from the magic money tree

Ch
Break through
New view
Hard to see
What we're going through

V3
Welcome to the twenty first century
Welcome to a brand new philosophy
Healing the wounds of the septic divide
No one can tell you just what to decide
Waving goodbye by to the painful obscurity

Hey, John @pompeyjazz

Amazing production. Such a great, clear mix and it popped out of the speakers as it should.

I'm guessing you're going for a 'New Order' vibe here? Was that your reference point? I'd be interested to know how you got those sounds in Reaper. I know Logic has all kinds of samples and loops, but wasn't sure what was in Reaper.

Also amazing that you got this done in a day. I thought I was fast but you're like Ronnie O'Suiilvan compared to my Peter Ebdon metaphorically speaking LOL.

Thanks @Elvis Nash School doesn't start until later in the year though

@Nick Ryder Thanks Nick - Yes, New Order was definitely a reference point.

One of the disadvantages / advantages with Reaper is that it has no built in loops / instruments so I use in the main free VSTi's and a number of stock and free VST's to manipulate the sounds during production. I rarely use loops so all the stuff on this one is using VSTi's midi

Looking at what I did on this one, the run down is as follows :-

Drums - EXDrummer 2 and Drumatic 4
Guitar - Guitar Rig
Bass Guitar - Guitar Rig
Bass Synth - Analog Lab V
Keys - Mainly Analog Lab V one Solina Redux and one Sonivox Twist 2

I've got some of the synths routed to a delay bus, I;m tweaking the drums with a LA-2A tube compressor and using a great fattener that's part of one of the utilities provided free by another member of the Reaper community (Exciter with fat bottom - Tukan) - You can't beat an exciter with a fat bottom

The rest is just tweaks to EQ

Cheers !

Love thevib, really catchy, easy to hum and made to dance with a smile on the lips!!! @pompeyjazz
The bet sounds round as well as the entire mix, the reverb on the vocal gives it a special atmosphere, color.
I did not know that to live we had to die so many times

Another cool song John. I particularly like the production here. Great synth work too. Altogether very catchy. No crits from me. I enjoyed this one. :)

"exciter with a fat bottom" I have no idea what that is but sounds exciting and fat! :D
Great mixing here John - it's amazing you can get all these effects working in tandem.
You vocals and lyrics are the icing on the cake.

Good job  8)

Very cool @pompeyjazz - gave me New Order, Depeche Mode vibes. The production is top notch - it's got that really cool moody thing in spades. I'd go to a gig, what can I say - when are you playing Dublin :) ?

Thank you everyone and the Exciter with the fat bottom! I’m afraid that my live performances are a lot less high tech @MonnoDB just acoustic guitar and vocals but I’ve been tempted to play along live to a stripped down backing track (drums and bass) to see how that works and a gig in Dublin would be definitely be top craic 😀

Hi
Great Retro feel & as Nick said a New Order vibe
mix sounds very wide clear & balanced
some of the songs that are done fast can stand out & this does
i also write very fast & some of the parts that sound strange i move up
in my track to find they suddenly they match another section surprisingly !

Great Stuff
