hi all!
bit of a rough and ready recording of acoustic guitar and vocals.
called stand together...
cheers

https://soundcloud.com/man-of-simple-pleasures/stand-together

i stand, i take my time
till the words, reignite the fire

inside a dream thats been
battered and bruised
we could lift the morning sun

so i stand, be the first in line
till the words, will make me realise

inside a dream thats
been skipping a beat
lets get up upon our feet

and we hope, we can pray together
and we know, we can stand together

so i stand, be singing in line
to hear the words,
the changing of the time

inside a dream
thats getting us on our feet
singing to the end of your street

and we hope, we can pray together
and we know, we can stand together

as the fever's rising over horizon
stand up to be seen as one

then we'l know, we can pray together
so we'l show, we can stand together

so when the fever's rising over horizon
we'l stand up to be seen as one...

you have something very catchy here with those short lines of lyric
& i realy liked the two voices it was unusual the way they sounded with the
quiet acoustic being strummed & rhythmically banged in the background
it reminded me  of twin brothers busking in a subway
Tell me Im wonderful & I ll be nice to you :)

thank you Tinam, very buskerish me bashing away on the guitar haha! i've got a habit of trying me best to just double track vocals to hear what they sound like and if i'm happy enough i go with it!

cheers!

I like the rough and readiness - makes it sound more authentic and a welcome respite from the glossy over-production on mainstream radio.  The double tracking of vocals sounds good and helps beef it up a bit.  Have you thought of doing the same with the guitar?  Or using it to add a few extra licks in places?

Was not too fond of the double vocal or the vocal processing (esp. the slight distortion) , think it would work brilliant without it. Cool guitarring! Should be more upfornt though (but that is me, others may disagree of course).
Those things aside a strong song, rythmically strong despite the lack of any percussion. Great potential but the current version did not quite do it justice however once again that is my very personal view of course.

Full of good ideas and I like the way the guitar drives the rhythm along. The main vocal melody is strong throughout. Maybe it's work in progress as I would look forward to hearing a slightly more polished version, as the vocal distortion didn't sit easy with me, but that's just me!

Yo MOSP.

60s vibe right here. It's a good song man,and a full band doing a job on it would be awesomely Stones-like.

Can't you just hear Brenda getting down on this?

Good to hear from you fella. Keep the faith.  8)

I liked the "rough and ready" feel, although I thought at 34seconds it would have sounded great if the song "opened up" into a full production

The double vocal was initially a nice "attention grabber" but I grew tired of it quite quickly, especially with the clipping/distorted effect, which was a bit tiring to listen to

The song itself has great potential - it just needed something else for me (perhaps a bridge) to break it up a bit

Hi MOSP,

Good to hear from you again.
This carries your distinctive style and the usual catchy delivery.
I too would like to hear it developed a little and open up a bit more. Not too overly produced as that would be too far removed - just the same but bigger.

Cool song.

cheers all for listening!

@Digger and Boydie, yeah agree agree, just need to find a producer haha, although i do need to get some 2nd guitar on their at least, must put some effort into it!

haha @Skub, get Jagger on the line see if he's up for it!

@Biill Saunders and Jambrains, not overly confident with the sounding of me vocals, i'l give them a bash but i end of just double tracking and hoping for the best so any reverb, distortion i tend to keep in their to be honest and not worry too much!

@Tim Curtis yeah sumit i need to have a play about with and get some more guitar on and even experiment double trackig the acoustic!

@Oldbutyet nice one mate, say you wanna revolution... well, you know, we all want to change the word... haha

I'm with Boydie on the double tracking and vocal effect - it gets old really quickly. I think the song is sound and I like your guitar style. It could maybe do with an instrumental break or a middle 8/bridge to act as a contrast to the rest. So hard to get past that vocal effect which dominates the listening experience. It's good as it is but it shouldn't be in the finished songs section.
