Hi all,

Well, I have just unearthed three recordings I made when I was 19.  It has been fascinating to see how I have changed - my voice, my lyric writing, but I think my style's probably quite similar.  Here's the first one.

Ey Flossie,

The intro is freaking beautiful. Beforehand I was already planning on saying something like yeah I hope you remaster it with the skills and advancements you have now but there's no need. The track is great really! Cheers

ps; what's up with the abnormal long silence at the end :P?

Hiya,

The silence at the end is my bad editing! Lazy I tell you!  Anyway glad you like the intro, It has made me realise I don't put enough effort into making my present day songs have interesting intros, and also I don't tend to have an instrumental part further along in my songs anymore - might try that.

Thanks once again.

Flossie

Yeah cut that out! Literally haha! And yeah, I hope you come up with some mind blowing intro's, because a first impression is quite important in this world where you can just click to browse through songs. If you have a catchy intro people will tend to listen to the rest. And yeah instrumentals parts are great! My 2 cents, if they're executed nicely of course.

Good luck and rock on :)

Hi flossie

Lovely piano intro and as always beautiful singing. You have gone on to develop your voice to to an even higher standard over the years.

I like the way that this track builds.  It was evident to me that at the age of 19,  you had a very good command of melody writing.  The guitar is first rate. Overall, this is an emotional song and doesn’t sound especially dated.

Well done,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for reviewing.  I had a producer help me with the three songs. I got some interest from a couple of labels at the time but I got scared and did nothing about it!!! I just wanted to write and didn't want to be an artist. Then of course the kids came along.

I had lost those songs (lost the cd) for about ten years so I was really please when I found an audio tape of them as it brought back a lot of memories for me.

Take care

Flossie

quite fantastic - so well structured as a song, and the production compliments that - multi-layered - this is good enough to be professional yet i hope you have continued to develop your vocal command. Love that piano and the guitar really fits into place -

overall

amazing! :)

Nighthawk bump!

It's amazing to hear the different a few years can make. Your voice has matured so much. In a good way. There is a naive charm to the vocals here.

Your Writing has become more interesting. This is lovely but far more standard pop song writing than we have heard of your newer stuff. There is lovely playing here (although I personally think the guitarist could have played with a bit more restraint, but some people love this big guitar stuff).

This has such a classic sound … love that piano and bass together … your voice floats over the music “as the breeze, passes by”  to quote that lovely lyric of yours … this is  very nice … it’s always good to take a look back and gain some perspective on where you’ve come from, where you are and where you’re going … seems like you started in a great place!

Wow, great song flossie.  Its hard to come up with anything constructive to add.  At times your vocal reminds me of Stevie Nicks and thats good, damn good.

Well recorded perhaps just missing a little mastering to put the final sheen on the product. A top effort and super well written. I especially love the change in tempo to take the song out.  Ill ignore the silence lol.
