i think it takes a lot courage to go to these auditions....seriously

if these programs are the same as they are over here....trying to compete means they film the auditions, everyone gets something like...30 seconds (maximum)....and based on that the people in the jury feel totally free to make everyone who tries to look like an idiot (which in my case i will do for myself in these 30 seconds already, but then jury is also selected to be capable to humiliate the contestants as far as possible....well in the Dutch versions of these programs they are...)

i never would dare to try that, i seriously would not have the guts at all

and i have far too little talent to have any chance  ;D ;D ;D ;D
(and i am too old  :P)

I thought there would be tons of you talented people

I think maybe we're all a little bit shy when it comes to it
it must be hard to do, I don't think I could do it
if I could sing or play that is

I'm just glad you share it on here

Someone i worked with went to an audition for X factor. She sat waiting for 3 hours then was ushered in to a room with 2 or 3 production workers, or whatever they call themselves. She sang 2 lines. They said, "sorry," and that was that. Never got to see the proper judges at all.
That said, she was a lousy a singer - even worse than me! :)

I am with Dutch on this one. In my opinion the focus of these shows is to entertain and I don't mean musically. The focus is all on the judges and they make outrageous comments at times to achieve this. IMHO these shows harm far more budding careers than they help.

yeah I understand that, its true

it is all about the judges and they get on my nerves
they do seem to make a fool out of a lot of acts

 so mmmmm I get that

I think you need to:
A. Be young (under 25)
B. Have a VERY thick skin
That rules out many on this forum (including me)
Oh, yeah, and I suppose it would help if you are talented but maybe not so much with pitch correction ::)

BGT HAS BEEN CRAP THIS YEAR

to be honest if you think about it, look at Susan Boyle & PAUL Potts their not pretty
but they became mega world wide artists,

its a funny old game eh!!!!

But then again when was the last time you heard someone- barring my grandma- buy Paul Potts album? These people are around for a while but one of the biggest markets for downloaded music is my age bracket and I don't think you'd be surprised to discover I'm not a huge SuBo fan ;)
But then again, I hate One Direction too, in fact I lose a lot of respect for people that go on talent shows because most of the time they haven't worked for it, they've just turned up for an audition and got lucky. They are musicians but not ARTISTS.

"Then again I hate One Direction too" this gives me hope that there are other teenage girls that have respect for the music industry and not how 'pretty' people look 🙌
